Am I bad for having a different opinion about mods?

Recently, Ive been ridiculed by a person for not trying out mods. It's not that I hate it, I just dont think it's the official product the devs want us to try out, and I'm kinda sticking to that code that "if it's not from the devs, then there's no point on it". I know it's fun to mod for some of us, but there are some people who think otherwise, and I prefer Vanillaheim. So am I really a boring or "bad" player for not trying mods?

course not. you want to play what the devs intended. that's how i want to play games like dark souls. i don't want an easy mode because the game loses a lot of its appeal then. i also understand why some people do want to mod the game.

this gets back to tribalism arguments like pc vs console gaming. they are both fine. there is no point in arguing over something this stupid. as long as what you do doesn't affect the other person, it's fine.

For sure, some mods change the intended game mechanics so much it basically doesn't resemble the same playstyle. Which begs the question why play the game if you don't want to "play" the game?

I have over 400 hours and early on I tried some mods and after about 30 minutes, I tried to delete them because clearly it was making the game too easy and essentially made it a different game... I couldn't get the mods completely removed so i uninstalled the game and re-installed and have only played vanilla since and WON'T be using mods on this game ever again.

Rain damage puts a cramp on by build visions. Do not want to put awnings over everything.
Only changed a few things in V+. Map range a bit further, also build str + 30%. I like to build bridges. This game so well put together that I could play it without mods and be happy.

I don't mod.
Don't worry about what others think or say.

I also prefer to play the games as they were intended to be played.

I used to catch a lot of heat from my gaming friends because I wouldn't try mods for the games I play--and they always recommended something with a feeling of certainty that I would enjoy the games more if I used mods.

I have used mods for Cities Skylines for graphical improvements, mind you. However, I won't use mods to change the textures or anything in Valheim because I enjoy the art style.

You made up a code and are sticking to it. Go for it. My attitude is I bought the game, I don't owe the devs anything else. its not perfect. Would not be surprised at all to see some of the better mods incorporated into the game in some version in the future. There are modders who found the same short comings I did and were generous enough with their time to create and share a fix.
There are games that were designed to be unmoddable or extremely difficult. If the devs wanted that, put it in the game.
