Very unlikely... The reason I say that is because they have been very firm about having restrictions on metal resources going through portals, and I seriously doubt they would now add an item that would allow players to bypass the portal restrictions by crafting gear with the metals, then porting home and disassembling the items to get resources back.

Well you would only get 25-50% return ofc..

Perhaps it works to, separate black cores from whatever the matrix in which they naturally occur. Perhaps it requires a Yagluth drop to construct, like a blast furnace requires Moder's tears.

Not too exciting but it does follow more-or-less the current pattern: Eikthyr drops hard antlers so one can make a pickaxe to mine copper and tin; the Elder drops the Swamp Key to one can open crypts containing scrap iron; Bonemass drops the Wishbone so one can readily find silver veins in the Mountains; and Moder drops Moder's tears so one can build a blast furnace to refine black metal.

There is a mod for this. My most common use though is when I made a new item when i thought I was upgrading an existing one.

I think it'll be a device that absorbs the essence from the core and then uses it to enchant weaponry.
Enchanted weapons are probably coming since they showed as 2 varients of the longsword in the teasers, one is normal, the other is glowing blue.

or it could be an essence/magic extractor that recharges black cores? or uses black cores and extracts power from them..just thinking...

Think it will be a mineral extractor, you put it at the top of a copper, silver source and it extract ores for you , just like in astroneer
