Note on Stone Age Pig Farming
After exploring the large island for a time (not yet fully done), I found a level 2 pig near the inland sea coast. Set up the following (dimensions are full wall panel) 5 x 8 long pig house, cordoned off at the far end 5 x 2.
Roof is 26 degrees and all interior partitions half walls. From the entrance 1 centre isle until it reaches the 5 x 2 area and left and right from it 2 x 1 areas.
When piglets are born, I push them towards the entrance partitions, smashing and re-building half wall as I go.
Feed red mushrooms six at a time to breeding pair, 2 separate stake walls surround the pig villa, the last one is a bigger area so I can plant carrots inside in the future, as well as having a 7 bee hive honey farm already.
So far, I stopped at having 14 boars plus the 2 breeding ones, 16 in total in a fully enclosed 5 x 8 area, but it only worked by pushing the piglets away from the breeding pair as soon as they were born.
In the mean time I practised blocking with Elkthyrs raids, went swimming a lot close by, cut the close trees.
Across the river from it (which leads to the ocean side) on a high plateau I am building now my main house with as much fortification as possible at this point, raised earth walls and stake walls, also leaving enough space for future metal working area and portal building.
On a different note, marked already 21 copper deposits, lots of tin and troll locations.

Thank you very much for your replies Sokaku and Knighttemplar. I have a double stake wall at this point around the boar building and my main house is across the river from it high up. Taking my time collecting stones the hard way and raising earth walls around it as well as wood for additional stake walls on top. I saw a neat built where someone built an earth wall trap with a tower at the end for shooting down from and am thinking of doing something similar at the far end of the rise. Also collecting as much core wood as I can already.
As a side note, I sat with my kids when they where in their teenage years to watch them play x-box, so I had conversation material outside school and home stuff with them. Now it is them who help me with some games, namely Pillars of Eternity and the Mass Effect collection. It is really nice to see the circle in all of this. I am on my own exploring Valheim though, which seems perfect for me, pacing and preparing as much as I can. Love the Steam community feedback.
Thank you very much and stay healthy all of you.

No faults against playing like this. Preparation goes a looong way in this game. It helps if you know what to prepare for, but it never goes wasted here. Sooner or later you Will need THE THING(S) that you wish you'd stocked up on before That ♥♥♥♥ Happened.

You can cull tame boars before you have tin by turning PVP on and attacking the boars you want to cull. Once you have gathered all the boar meat or leather scraps you need turn PVP back off so that you don't accidentally kill boars that you want to keep for breeding. Make sure you have the area well walled off with the log walls before defeating Elkthyr. I did a similar thing figuring out how to breed boars, though had no way to slaughter them til I found out about the butcher knife. Beat the big elk (By then I had fully upgraded leather and decent archery skill) However was completely unprepared for my first "Forest Moves" event, had never even read about it.. It didn't go well for me or my Boar farm. :(

You are all very funny.
I am building against the Black Forrest raids , which will be next, with space for stone upgrades later on. Boar and Neck raids are meat supplies and blocking/rolling practice. Took care of several shamans and brutes already, next on the list are trolls for the armor. I posted this to show that you can breed more than 4 boars in addition to having the main breeding pair in a single building. Came across a lot of posts that said 6 is the limit. And yes, I am really an old crazy mom.

I know its possible. I built a barn to make my base look rustic and tamed boars and bred lots of them there. Once I got up to about 20 boars they would clip through the walls when I loaded the base in so I built an exterior wall around the barn. When the troll raids happened I changed the outside wall to an earthen wall. When I got to the mountains I partitioned the inside of the barn off and put wolves on one side and the boars on the other.

As long as you feed them they will continue to breed until they start spilling out of their enclosure due to the number and clipping issues.
The same applies to Lox. I saw people that said that Lox need lots of room and stop breeding if there are too many in a certain area and that is also provably not true.

Nothing wrong with being a crazy mom. I can speak from experience that a gamer mom is cool with her kids and will keep a gamer dad happy.

And after she kills the lightning deer, what raids will have she to defend against? Boars and necks? The answer should give a reason to postpone the killing until it becomes a true necessity (to get the power, I guess). Nah man he needs to build a giant fortress to defend against the boar and neck raids, scary stuff they are
Moreover, boars and necks have never been a nuisance to ward oneself from. On the opposite, they are a blessing, a day without hunting.
