This. You are on a giant disk. Moon phases are due to earth's shadow. This disk does not cast a shadow over that moon that changes because none of the celestial bodies rotate, it's all stuck on a tree.

do they not teach about tides/the moon/moon phases in school anymore? sigh.

Perhaps it's because every day's a monday in Valheim?

Apparently, in Norse mythology, the sun and moon shine for every world, as every people had a name for them. But I can't say if the cosmogonic reason for having whaning and waxing moons only pertained to Midgard.

i think the last thing we need is another effect to hinder visibility without a new moon as well. besides the ambiance from the full moon is cool and i think it would be better if they made it unusually large in the sky rather than giving it phases. it would add more to the strangeness of it being a different plane of existence, making it feel like your closer to the heavens etc.

Sea serpents, giant bugs, trolls, literal magic... but it's the "unrealistic" moon you're worried about?

... it's a mythological plane, in a legendary space, placed there by a deity.
Life goes on (apparently, even after you die).

Moon phases were actually on the original roadmap. I don't think they're in consideration anymore.

i'm not worried about the unrealistic moon. i'm pretty sure i'm aware this is a fantasy game. i'm also pretty sure that as a human being i can make an observation or express an opinion. having moon phases would be cool.

Can't argue with that... As sarteck pointed out: apparently, even the devs felt that way at one point.

If you think of being stuck in time because you are stuck in Valheim it makes sense. I kind of like it since its easier to see at night with a full moon.
