(SOLVED) Anybody else getting a NullReference error when they boot ?

The client gets stuck on "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." and all the text in the menu has '$Menu_' in front of it. None of the buttons in the settings or world selector work, and only my local world shows up, which i still can't run due to 'some error'.

I don't have any mods and have already uninstalled and reinstalled and validated files, as well as disabling antivirus software and steam/nvidia overlays and even tried disabling controller support.

Anybody experience this and find a fix? I love this game but I can't even play it as of now.

You should probably add this to the top so people don't have to read all this to find the answer.

Sounds like a file somewhere got corrupted.. Might try validating game files, or may have to reinstall the game..

Huh... maybe the world or character files? Can try saving a copy somewhere safe and starting a new game without them.. or with the .old versions, if any.

Other then that.. not sure, maybe something external to the game.. av program doing something weird possibly?

Create a complete new character and new world. If that works, try either your old char in a new world, or a new char in your old world to see what works.

I guess a mod (if you had any previously) might have corrupted your char or world.

Yeah.. NREs usually mean the game tried to pull a value from somewhere, and got a 0 returned instead of what it was expecting.. guessing it has to be something corrupted, missing, or blocked by something..
