If you pushed yourself to defeat all the bosses and not enjoy the trip, you totally missed the point of the game.

I'm enjoying every day that I still play Valheim.

I'd image there may be new people buying the game every now and again. Also some people may be playing at a slower pace. Some people like to build and mess around. I myself for instance have completed 2 runs now. Once multiplayer, once solo. I have also built fairly extensively.

A few people have found something in this game that they have not found in other games recently, and they are enamored.

I just discovered the game for the first time a few weeks ago and played it, beat it and I'll probably move on until further updates. I'm sure there are thousands of people who are now finding the game like me, so that's where the playercount comes from even if the hype is dead.

It's mostly just people with extreme patience building until their framerate runs to 0, modders, and new players at this point

As said above, "Enjoy the trip". I've got well over 200 hours into it and still haven't even got to the second boss. So many other things to do other than rush through like a 5 day tour of Europe.

it's a meditative experience, just to walk around, collect silly things; then find that perfect spot and build there. This game could be a perfect mix of little things, but I see how one can get tired of it. Everything has a product cycle - games, people, nations. I guess, this game's cycle is different for different people - for some longer, for some-shorter. And many people are just discovering the game, like the above poster said.

I put in 180 hours, I'll be back when there is a new update. People like to build, explore, just chill out and relax and screw around. It's why games like No Man's Sky is popular as well. Heck, its why Minecraft still has over 10 Million players a day 10 years later.

If you need bosses to kill, boxes to check off constantly, and constant conflict, then this sort of game won't hold long term appeal to you, but everyone has different taste. I never understood why Fortnite is so popular, but whatever people like different things.

Sorry the game stopped offering you new things to see and do. At least the forum still offers you opportunities to brag about how good you are.

First off, not everybody has time to play “everyday”. If you do, congrats.

Lots of us spend our time enjoying the play through, and don’t really go after bosses until it is necessary to move forward. I still haven’t taken down the Plains boss, but it will be soon. Thinking about building a plains base, but I really don’t see the need yet.

There simply isn’t any rush.

I played for a little while, couple months tops, loved it until my progress kept getting lost due to crashing. So for now, I'm just standing by while they fix the game-breaking problems then I'll jump back into it again. Just far too many instances where I'm killing it, have a bunch of resources that are extremely difficult to get without dying just to have my game crash and lose everything I worked for.

I started a couple weeks ago, I usually play with my brother and my two nephews.
We are building an epic castle right now, and go on missions together.
I've played 100 hours at the time of this post and still having a great time.
This game is great for base building, something creative people can spend hours on.

I've had this happen , but only when using Vulkan.

and what is there to brag about lol
this isn't a hard game
my friend who finished it with me literally played with one hand and beat all bosses
I was just curious how people keep generating fun from a game that doesn't have a lot to offer after you finish everything
