Building issues with the hoe
Hi there,
i just stumbled upon an issue terraforming with the hoe: To cross the water between two islands I want to skip ship building and build a dam with the hoe using stones instead. But after ~7 times I raised the ground I can´t go on. It says "not possible" though I have a workbench nearby, enough stone and stamina.
pls help

Sometimes you can explore farther inland. What looks to be an ocean can just be a very wide river mouth. Walking along the "coast" might allow you to find a place you can ford the river. When you are swimming you don't regenerate stamina but if there are boulders protruding from the water you can swim from boulder to boulder. Floating next to a boulder counts as wading and allows your stamina to regenerate.
With better materials found in tougher biomes its possible to build bridges from boulder to boulder and potentially cross a large river dry footed.

this all day. on my first map I went out on the ocean for the first time and it was actually just an enormous lake that I should have walked around. wasted all kinds of time and food Xb
sailing is a major part of the game tho, so you should familiarize yourself with it. it's awesome when the wind is actually good.

There is a limit to how high you can raise ground, and also to how far you can dig down.
You may have to build a bridge if it isn't too far.

Ah ok. Thank you for the fast answers. I guess there is no other choice than building a ship if I want to cross water.

Definitely easier. If you're talking about a raft, be very careful. Those things are very flimsy and only good if you have no choice.

Just to add to this .... Vanilla Valheim restricts how high or low the terrain can be based on the starting elevation. I believe it's 8m or 16 clicks from the starting ground level t
