Has any one successfully transport a boar on a boat to another Island?
I tried, but the boar keeps moving out of the boat.

Yes, I have many times. It's a chore in patience my friend!
Best practices with wolfs/boars on a boat....
1. Keep the animal directly in front of you whenever you can. Easier with tamed wolves of course (make them follow you, but keep them in front of you).
2. Try to make as little turns as possible, or turn very slowly.
3. Sometimes half speed or oar speed is best, especially if it is stormy, they like to fall off on the big waves, more so if you are going fast.
4. Always bring at least 4 animals, there is a good chance you will get to your destination with 2 for breeding. Bring 6 if it's gonna be a long journey.
5. Avoid all mobs so only go close to shore when needed. Also, serpents will agro wolves, etc. so there is a chance they will go overboard trying to chase or flee.
6. Brew some tasty mead to pass the time away.
Good luck!

yes its quite common, as are loxes and wolves. Every animal type has its own best practices.
for boars try to keep them calm by avoiding mobs while on route, same for loxes.
swamp is particularly annoying because of leeches they will generate freightened status making the boars run away. so avoid swamp coasts and hug the deep waters at all times. depart in the morning. daylight is better since spawn rates for mobs and sea snakes are lower. make sure to explore the route before sailing so you can have the best approach to your base. calm weather is also beneficial. its a fun part of the game. one two-star boar is enough to start breeding so as stated before, best to take a few, so at least one survives the trip :D

Yeah, and if you're after something like a tamed 2** boar, I'd recommend making a pen and breeding them wherever you tamed them before trying your journey. Make sure there's replacements left behind just in case your voyage doesn't leave any survivors. Yes, I have many times. It's a chore in patience my friend!

On my world where two star boar was located far from home, I just created the farm there and dropped a portal labeled "pig farm" or something similar and added it to my portal hub. If I was trying to move by boat I would likely use the harpoon. Harpoon won't even kill no star boar with a single shot. Just don't run out of stamina.

I did, though it wasn’t really a different island, just a long distance onto the same island. Used a longship and had a second player to help push him around.

Hah, that is a fun/funny idea. can you pull it with the harpoon maybe?
I think the harpoon would make it explode, but a wolf or a Lox
I wonder if they would float or sink, mobs seem to run along the bottom. Just the image of pulling a Lox across the ocean makes me want to attempt it!
