I confess that I'm disappointed, but I hope the devs can change this in the future. In addition to adding raiders who hunt treasure, they could add guardians to defend our base like tamed wolves do.

What else are you going to do with a stack of coins, except look at them and think to yourself, “hmm yes, that is indeed a pile of my wealth”.

I thought this treasure might attract thieves in a random way. Some kind of specific monster that might try to invade the base.

Nah, nothing that complex. Just pretty stacks of money. Looks good covering a table and littering the floor. Most other games don't even give you an option to visibly see your wealth strewn about.
