I'd guess when the game hits 1.0, but do yourself a favor and try to stop putting so much importance on achievements. They're completely meaningless and turn gaming into a glorified checklist.

I find them enjoyable. If it turns the game into a checklist for you, that's okay. For me, it's a big plus.

Apparently not if it's currently preventing you from fully enjoying the game now. That's definitely not a plus, but you can keep gaslighting yourself about them. Not my problem.

I never once said it was preventing me from fully enjoying the game. I literally only said "achievements when" lmfao dumbass.

I don't get the obsession with achievements. I guess simply surviving and defeating enemies and bosses isn't enough of a feeling of accomplishment for many.

I'm right there with you. Was it Microsoft Xbox that introduced this pointlessness? I distinctly remember there being a direct correlation with its release. I was all for it initially because i honestly thought those points from said achievements could be used as some sort of currency.

Nope. Just useless "gamer clout". I am increasingly thankful for relating so little to people nowadays.

Because it is in EA status. Doesn't make any sense to make achievements for a game that is going to change.
But I will offer you what I have offered others requesting this. I will give you asinine tasks with zero reward, so it will feel like you are working for achievements.
First task, jog around your starter island 3 times without stopping, ok go.

Achievements are manipulative padding that changes player behavior to drip-feed dopamine hits and increase engagement.

what makes it busy work? you don't have to actually acknowledge or complete them. It's just adds more to the game for people who like them.

That is a pretty shallow way to view achievements. They're just another simple thing to add to the game for fun. I feel a bit sorry for you if your game play is so easily swayed by the simple addition of extra reward/goals that it ruins the whole game for you. Kinda sad imo. :steamsalty:

This would be great once the game is finished (or at least a lot further into early access). I'm sure we'll see them at some point.

There MUST be achievement called HAPPY BEES. For checking on bees and getting message The bees are happy. Otherwise they may not add any achievement system at all.

early acces game with achievements = a red flag

Achievements are based off of a completed work, knowing everything in your game and then rewarding people for various actions. If you have an Achievement system in Alpha, from experience, it means you have no intention on finishing the product as so many i've opted into that did, have done that.

Chill. Achievements usually come late beta.

Wouldn't say its necessariliy a red flag. Many developers implement achievements parallely to development, as you can design its triggers properly and can test those directly with the appropriate build tests. Wouldn't say thats a bad thing. Designing a trigger and using Steam-API does not take a lot of time, if its done in active development. If you do it later you have to get into your specific algorythms again, rethink them and their functionality. This costs time and causes bugs, bugs which are not necessarily tied to the achievement but anything within the system, which need to be adressed then aswell.

Thats why you design a MVP in modern development. Mostly in addition with some agile work model like scrum.

This is how you design an MVP:
https://aktiasolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/MVP-Minimum-Viable-Product-Characteristics-Lean-Product-Management-AKTIA-Solutions.jpg
(just a picture)

One should judge a game's integrity by its content, reputation and quality and not wether it has achievements or not.
