Bug or am I missing something?
I finally found some swamps and I faced a daugh. A regular one. One hit and all my stamina depleted and never returned. It remained at 0 so I couldn't attack or run. No effects where shown in the status area. Just the strenght belt.
It's been hours of empty walks and when I finally find a new area the game goes from 0 to 100 real quick.

The key to swamps early on is preparation and never stop moving, but be aware of what's around you. Get out before dark.
This really has nothing to do with the information the OP and others are discussing about the anomaly.

I used 3 cooked meals (deer something, carrot soup and beef jerky I think) before entering the swamp. I also tried to use the bow but either the hitbox was off or I just had a bad time because I missed half the shots, specially close range (on blobs too... and I've been hitting deers both still and running). When I saw it was coming close and skeletons were flanking me I gave up trying to hit, switched to the knife and turned around. That's when I was blocked by a few rocks or stumps and was hacked in the back of the neck losing all stamina and being able to only walk for the rest of the process. Does sound like a bug on your stamina or you where just drain down when drauger appeared. But walking away in water or on land, stamina should have came back up. Only reason it may not have , is if you have low food health points which results in low stamina bar. Better the Food, More stamina bar grows.
Sounds like you found a Drauger spawn bone pile in the swamp, until the bone pile is taken out, I use sword to take it out, you wont have a chance. I would make up some stamina, poison potions and the best arrows and bow you can make at this time of your characters level and take out the bone pile with arrows from a distance, then clear anything left over.
In future reference, I try not to take on Draugers with hand to hand combat, I use bow and arrows while I "Run Forrest Run" and bob and weave. LOL
Didn't see any spawning points either. They usually have like a coloured cloud but nothing like that there. Just big density of enemies (3 leeches in the river in front of me, one ooze and a couple of blobs, many draugers...) and even if I dispatched a few with the bow whenever I managed to hit, since I was kiting back, the moment I came back there were more.
I had the second bow maxed with fire arrows and lvl3 full troll armour, but stealth was pretty useless there, someone sees one way or another because there's too many enemies and too little space because there's a steep mountain forming a wall (it's just a small patch on the coast, haven't been able to find more swamps but that one, I just wanted some new materials to advance a little but only enemies spawned there, nothing interesting but the blood sacks to make anti-freeze potions). I can basically face tank any enemy with the troll armour except troll theirselves so I thought it'd be enough for the swamp but seems like the gear check takes a big leap there.
Knowing it's not a special ability or area effect I'll try to have more solid proof/data to show.
Thanks again for the answers and your time.

I should have mentioned in my previous comment that this has happened to me before in the plains, I was hit and the hit took all my stamina and I could only slowly walk after. I am not sure but think it's due to trying to run or jump etc after the attack. You should definitely get bronze armor and weapons before trying swamps again, especially the shield will help a lot with parrying. I believe a strong hit without adequate block does affect the player in this way temporarily.

That's quite a possibility. I was running while having my path blocked when I took the hit and my whole stamina dropped. Maybe that's the combo that makes it impossible to recover. I started upgrading my bronze armour and I'll look for a different swamp, see if it's less dense with enemies and has at least some mineral. Not sure if I like fighting with the shield though. There's no animation cancelling AFAIK so hitting and trying to block when the enemy is winding up is hard because no matter how fast I am I have to wait for my animation. I prefer the deer hammer that knocks enemies back so I don't have to block. Although brutes tend to be immune.
Thank you for your answer.

You're welcome! And if you like the stagbreaker you'll love the iron sledge once you can craft it. It's still one of my favorite weapons. I also suggest the atgeir if you're not fond of the shield, as two handed weapons do allow some parry as well now. Just keep some stamina and health potions on you! Good luck!

if you don't have the rested buff anymore and are wet(like always in the swamps^^), stamina will regenerate very slowly. But it should still regenerate, as long as you don't run all the time.
The hit killing all your stamina is normal though, that happens when you block a blow that is too strong. Upgrades for your shield (or a better one) help with that.

True, I was also wet and not rested, but I could only walk. I've been through the situation of having the stamina bar depleted and trying to run and you still see the grey bar of it regenerating and depleting again (and the animation from the character). Not this time though. I knew I was dead so I just pushed the stick and looked at the bar to confirm. Nothing. if you don't have the rested buff anymore and are wet(like always in the swamps^^), stamina will regenerate very slowly. Regarding the blow, I wasn't wearing a shield or blocking. I wish I could've recorded it to see the replay.
Thank you for taking the time to answer. Maybe I'll try to repeat the situation and record it to show what I mean better.

I'm running it with Vulkan and just a texture change for the character to have some warpaints. I went to retrieve the corpse and draugs don't stop spawning. It's never ending. Even 2 stars during the day. But no useful resources because the patch is so small... Not worth the trip.Sounds like a bug, you are running vanilla right?
