Since I'm a low IQ person please describe your definition of "content"

So many posts use this word but it seems way too arbitrary for me to assign a meaning to it. Actually looking for authentic responses and not the troll kneejerk.

New Content would be new things, from biomes to objects to mechanics to enemies.
As opposed to things that are simply minor tweaks to existing content.

In some cases the difference can be debatable, as its hard to definite the line between changes to certain things and what's basically an entire new rework of something.
H&H contains new building parts, foods, enemies, status effects, weapons, shields and new mechanics, large overhauls of existing mechanics, and a ton of small but impactful QoL tweaks.

Only if you are content with the content.

After reading 1 million posts that complained about lack of 'new content' it was getting difficult to ascertain what 'new content' really meant. As expected everyone's definition varies in various ways. I guess the key component is that is makes the player behave differently in some way - hopefully in line with what the player thinks is 'good'.

Okay, now let's get to the definition of 'good'......LOL

And that is certainly a contentious supposition :steamhappy:

Content is anything the player interacts with while accomplishing goals.
Remove the base building, the food, the crafting, so you're only left with the player, the bosses, and mobs. Removing any or all of that is removing content. Some people don't like that part of the game but that doesn't mean it isn't content. When they added more base building options, more food, more weapons, a one new mob, they added content. It is somehow not what people expected (despite multiple sources telling us that's what it would be).

Something on the progression timeline between Yagluth and the final boss (equipment upgrade tiers, new boats, new biomes, etc.)

There will be a million interpretations of what "content" means.

IMHO, "content" would be items, biomes, NPC's, etc., that the player can interact with in the virtual world. I would not consider "balancing" or "optimization" or "bug fixes" to be included under new "content".

So, in other words - new building parts and new foods. You can interact with them so, as per your definition, they're content. There you go, we got new content.

Thanks for your adult responses.
So far I am grokking 'content' is generally a meat and potatoes thing rather than game mechanics.
