Keep the sound turned up on the Plains. Deathsquitos buzz loudly, and Fuling talk and... I think they giggle, but I'm not sure. And don't hesitate to clear some ground. Deathsquitos and Fuling lose a lot of their power if you see them coming from a distance.

All great tips everyone, also remember that not all Biomes will have the Locator Stone. You may have to search a few Plains areas before you find it.

For Yag, the locator stones are usually by stone formations resembling Stonehenge, they can also be found in the stone towers the Goblins build, and I've found one by a single Stonehenge sized stone.

Also, there can be multiple altars for each boss in your seed.

Another tip: When out exploring, before you leave home, build a portal and call it "Home" or "YourNameHome". Then take mats to build another portal when you get to where you're going. That way, if you die, or fill up your inventory, you have an easy way to get back. Any ore you pickup you can leave on your boat for the return trip.

Oh man the plains are quite dangerous, going from the elder and its biome gears to yag without getting oneshot every 5 mins is i think just impossible. You can try.

I'm assuming OP has already cleared Bonemass and Moder and is geared appropriately.

Anyway the pointers seem to be based on the runes, not on progression so it's probably just a matter of not finding the right one yet in the plains. I've actually never seen the loacting rune, have only found the boss location randomly (hard to miss, ring of enormous stones that look a bit like skeletal fingers, with an altar in the center.)

You know what happens when we assume

Lmao the plains look so innocent and inviting at first... then you find out quickly that that they aren't

Search the plains. Look for the circle of stones that form a hand

The Elder is the 2nd boss tho?

All locators in a biome will ID the boss for that biome.
Elder is for the Black Forest
Bonemass - Swamp
Moder - Mountains
Yag - Plains <fifth boss>

kill goblins in the village and you need to get the doll idols from them. Five to be precise. There should be a marker in one of village showing where the boss is. Often they are in little goblin castles. if you just killed the Elder it will be impossible for you do the fifth boss.
