50c isn't so bad for a game like Valheim.

It's common for most graphics cards to get up to 80c or even 85c when under a full load.

Unless you're experiencing FPS drops I would not worry about the heat.

50c is the normal temperature under load for that card, its nowhere remotely close to hot.

reports of some cards needing to manually set the fan speed up. Not sure if running vulcan will help or not.

This is probably your only real solution for the time being.

Unfortunately given the games current development stage i don't think optimisation is a very high priority (usually done properly in BETA) and as such, as of right now, i don't think there is another solution.

I personally have a 2080 SUPER and my card never passes 40c but i have an AIO cooled card. In reality your card can run anything between 40-70c and not suffer any throttling or damage. So it's not *that* much of an issue, but i see why you came to find out if maybe you can get the temp down for sure.

Yeah i've manually set the fans to max and it still runs hot. Vulcan maybe drops a few degrees down, not much thought.

Looking at other past posts in a search people recommend MSI afterburner or Rivatuner to manually set a fan curve. That seems to solve the problem. You can search discussions for fan speed and check out their issues.

I've done both of those too. I have a 144hz monitor and I run Valheim at 60hz. And I use compressed air on my PC at twice a week.

IDK but for comparison I have a 1070 running at 1920x1080 @60 and it stays cool.
With foliage maxed I would get a lot of fps drops but turning foliage to lowest it stays a solid 60. Depth of field and motion blur off. Shadows lowest.

edit add ... guess I should of asked if you were running any mods? Totally unmodded game on mine.

Your card is rated to hit 85c before it throttles. You're fine.
