You're all amazing builders.
Seriously, looking at the screenshots alone there are so many cool looking layouts.

Stone blocks as well. Some will be poking in and out of the walls, floor stones will be up or down a bit in a bid to break your ankles.

Ah, I think I understand now, if you refer about some tower roofs that are clearly offset as compared to walls.Careful with that though, those structures are designed snapped to a regular shape, but then have random offsets applied to some of the pieces when spawning which looks really cool but can confuse the hell out of someone trying to learn the build and snap mechanics.
Those random offsets trigger my OCD so one of the first things I do when re-building structures is replace those pieces with properly aligned ones.

There are definitely a lot of amazing buildings there, my buildings look pretty pale next to them.

If you zoom in on the details, an important technique that can be applied to your existing builds is sticking extra bits onto flat uniform walls to break up the colors and add three dimensional depth and shadow. After a while you'll find yourself starting with the decorative themes and filling in the flat parts between them last.
The small, framed 1x1 wooden door is hugely useful for this because it has half-unit snap points along the edges which are perfect for placing beams to stick out just a little bit.

Yeah, seeing the things other, more skilled and creative people have built in the game is always an experience. I doubt I will ever get anywhere near such a level, but it's great that others do. The game deserves to have magnificent builds created within it.

A way to swallow one's shame is to confine oneself to rebuilding abandonned structures, and copy them, then enlarging them. That's what I've done, and keep doing between two attempts at building something larger...

Lots of Trial & error over here. My first attempt at a house was an absolute dump. I make some much better buildings now.

Lots of inspiration from fellow vikings. I think I am quite 'run-of-the mill' with my builds, but will improve with the ideas of others who have made some amazing stuff.
