Thats how to do it.. put all the things within range and wait until it refreshes (posts buff duration).

I think it takes that time to search the nearby area for comfort items and then calculates the duration of the buff. (similar to how it calculates structure integrity during building, by doing checks on each piece)

I don't think there's a way to increase the speed that you gain the buff, but you don't need to be sitting in a chair to get it. As long as you have the fire and sheltered icons you will get the rested buff even if you're being active. That's why I like to decorate my crafting areas with comfort items, I can always have my rested bonus topped off while I'm in my kitchen and workshop areas.

other than that, no, not at all... the game is meant to go slow, not everything has to be done fast.... learn to take things slow in game.

Alternatively, build a bigger base with more rooftop. That way you're always building up the bonus while dealing with smelters or storage.

Make sure there is no ennemies nearby, i think it cancels the resting process.

I mean... Technically you could make an enourmous dome around your resting place so you need about 30 seconds to get from the edge of it to that resting place.

That's obviously a very efficient use of your time and that will surely make up for all the time spent on building it (lol)

this is probably the best idea, get a charge going and then move into the high comfort area to top it off, since the top off process is faster than the full charge up.
