Bone is weakest so good for practice.

Crossbow is meant to be a sniper one shot kill sort of thing, you can kinda do that with the earlier bows with sneak shots. But if you want a one shot kill in higher biomes you'll need the crossbow, sneak and a strong bolt in the weakspot

I wonder if primitive guns(with a big barrel and loading time) will be added at some point in the game, maybe at the end of ashlands. They would be a natural progression over the crossbow and deal even more damage, though it would be scientifically too advanced to associate with vikings, just like potentially industrial ♥♥♥♥ powered by in game coal. Still, the ashlands do seem like the most appropriate biome to introduce stuff like that.

Yeah, I guess that does make sense. Though, speaking as a person who cannot be bothered to farm things sometimes: "I hit it with knife, I hit it with knife, I hit it with knife" :v
