Realized I've been capped at 59hz this whole time...How to change?
Is there a way to change the refresh rate? Keeps reverting back to 59hz. What is all that about?

Options -> Graphics -> change resolution. Check your v-sync settings as well.
If it's not that, then it's probably not Valheim related.

Most likely it is Valheim related. There are many games out there that work with far higher frame rate and a lot smoother. Instead their solution to poor optimization is not to fix issues but rather to increase minimum requirements. I wouldn't be surprised if they never finished this game. It got really popular early on, they got ton of money and now they might just ♥♥♥♥ off with it. Most of the developers do just that with notable exceptions. Options -> Graphics -> change resolution. Check your v-sync settings as well.

Hertz (Hz) is a display setting in Windows. Your display should be set at your monitor's rated refresh rate, ie. if you have a 60 Hz monitor, it should be set to 60 Hz in Windows. This is how you do it:

Valheim will respect the display settings in Windows. For example, if your monitor is rated for 144 Hz, but the setting in Windows is set to 59 Hz, then in-game Graphics settings will use the resolution you select, but will keep reverting to 59 Hz even if you select higher Hz option.

Interesting read:

I ran into a weird Hz problem once and the only way for me to solve it back then was with this tool:

I have 280hz. The max for Valheim is 279hz 1920x1080. I try it and reverts back to 59hz. Sounds like a game related issue. Never have this issue in other games.
