Valheim is like life

I hope this isn't too off topic, and I can't see how it fits anywhere else, but I wanted to drop this here because it's burning my little brain thinking about it and how it makes me love this game so much.

Valheim, while it is largely derivative of Minecraft, adds a sufficiently complex story, and has things that are so similar to real life, that I love playing it, not to relax, but to train my mind for the constant defense life requires.

In valheim, you barely go 10 minutes sitting idle in your base without hearing greydwarves speaking incomprehensible nonsense and throwing rocks and attacking your infrastructure. A lot like the real world, right now, in places like Los Angeles and Chicago and New York.

You can't go outside without someone aiming to rob you of the next half hour of your life by killing your character inside a dungeon and having to go back there to get your best armour and gear, and all the surtling cores and whatnot.

This second feature made me rage quit routinely, but then I realised, that this is a test. Did I learn not to do what lost my gear in that dungeon? Ah! It was my fault!

I am starting to wonder if Earth is not really Valheim.

Ssssss... I'd want to know someone and their circumstances a lot better before offering advice that might sound a lot like "Have you tried having more money and opportunities?"

Derivative is the wrong word there for sure. They're part of the same game genre but Valheim's closest to Terraria, and Minecraft is just the most successful, it wasn't the first by any stretch.

Incorrect, it is not like Chicago- at least Chicago has good pierogis!

In all honesty, though, it is rough that you think this. In Valheim, yes, you are a character tested by Odin to face an overwhelmingly hostile world, but much in this world is not hostile. Not to be in the business of dispensing life advice, but it might help to spend some time away from Valheim and doing some volunteer work and traveling. Such an embittered outlook will only serve to weaken you.

Well that got dark - hope your neighbourhood improves soon or you manage to escape. Being under constant siege is more fun in its optional cartoon form. :/
