Is combat really this simple?

Its just blcok/parry/roll (depends on situation) and attack, then repeat, for every single enemy. The abomination is pretty much just a re skinned troll, is there any real difficulty besides stamina management?

Example: I start new character, go to fight first boss the Stag but as usual the Boss spawns and a fricken Troll want some action as well. So Im running my arce off and no stamina to be found , so im bobbin and weaving thru trees to stay alive. Usually once you get far enough from where the Boss and Troll spawn, they go back to that point and wait on you. But not for me, they chased me all over that darn Island and never gave up.

So yeah Luck is your friend, but not mine. LMAO
Over spawning is definetly an annoyance in this game. then it becomes a block and running game as you cant defend that many attacks before your stamina depletes. Its a mechanic to make up for lack of combat, just waiting on stamina as always.

Low level does suck though as weapons are weak and stamina cant be boosted too high

It is actually a lot more simple.

All the time you waste dancing around to parry and you could just walk up to them and kill them faster.

Yeah i simpy got to moder without doing that -.- the 'dancing around' is part of my stamina management I cant succesfully attack and dodge with no stamina? or are you just one of those "swing wildly until i die" people

No death runs here.

I don't parry much at all. I can manage may stamina just fine due to situational awareness and not getting in over my head.

I don't expect the combat will ever be more in depth. the game doesnt really need it. yes the current system isnt good but its better than say.. minecraft. I believe the devs goal with this stamina and combat system is to convey to the player
"you are either not ready and need to run or you WILL die, or you have prepared properly for this battle and therefor should win"

most the time I try but usually (and im guessing noise) other enemies get attracted, while its not often theres a couple times i just get rampaged so i usually step back block step back until i get enough stamina to swing (usually a couple enemies in front of me so more than one hit) and take them out that way
Honestly its just annoying when all these little guys distract me when Im trying to attack a bigger guy like abomination lol. But the stamina management in the swamp is just so time consuming, I have just run off before and left the enemies (not pointin killing them) but I try to finish them off (more or less an ocd thing, i started fight, mus finish)

upgraded iron and the new soups from heart update are prepared enough for the swamp, its just waiting on stamina regen usually maybe its just rainy swamp thats annoying. but its not dying that im having an issue with, its the length of time some of these small battles take. I guess I could just cheese/exploit the game and just kite them with arrows

IMO "its that simple", yes. With the usual lag a more complex fighting system wouldnt work anyway.

I don't think it's "simple" at all. It's stamina management, multiple enemies management, environment management, food management, being prepared management...

It's quite a list, and obviously there's still quite a lot of people who find this game very hard...

Going in prepared with gear yes, but the game literally has a spawning mechanic so no amount of 'looking around' will predict that spawn, as soon as you kill one there is about a 5 second cool down before another one spwans, and undoubtedly attracted by the noise

A good example of that would be the troll and grey dwarves, not challenging but as soon as you start fighting the troll some greydwarves appear, kill it and the game instant;ly spawns another
its the tedium slowness of the battle im complaining about. especially when mobs just wander their way over. from wherever they spawn at. Im literally never "over my head" until when i start battles they just all kind of run to me. I mostly take the swamps slow and didnt really have an issue last play thru (initial release) this time around it seems things spawn all over the place

I suppose maybe its night time and i just cant tell cause of the swamp biome... fully possible as I am usually there for a day or 2

And to reiterate im not having issues with dying, as some people seem to think that is. Its just how long these battles take when enemies keep walking up to extend it.
