Modded Valheim worth a play?
I recently found out about mods for Valheim. Is it worth it? I was perusing the mods on nexus and I saw a few that caught my eye. Does anyone play modded and is Valheim+ a good mod?
Thanks
Thanks

I am playing with a lot of mods and it is just like a new Valheim. Depends on what you want to do. If you want to build stuff, go for it, you will love it :D

Trust me. Every game in early access expects you to use mods. That way they don't have to have content.

This. The excuse of 'small teams' and 'passion projects' goes out the window when you've net several millions. At that point the only thing between you and your 'passion' project becoming more is, well, you. You'd assume you'd use some of that money for that passion.
That being said, it's 100% WORTH the money, because the game IS great.

I got the game during March of last year (right after it came out) and played for a bit to learn the ropes, then started using mods. After about 2 days I completely deleted all the mods, uninstalled Valheim, and re-installed Valheim completely fresh and mod-free, and won't ever go back to using mods again.
Just the few mods I was running completely changed the game (Valheim plus was one of them) and made the game much easier (which i didn't want) so I removed them all and went back to the vanilla game and will never go back... Some people can't play without the mods, but I for one, can't play Valheim WITH the mods.... To each their own, I guess.
Haven't used it but Doesn't Valheim plus have options to make the game harder and you can disable the features that make the game easier? I was always curious about that mod for how it could make the game harder.
Unless the feature making the game easier is in your face and unavoidable it should be easy enough to ignore. It is very much like portals in the base game, they make the game stupidly easy and most people, including myself, simply don't build them for this reason.

I guess I am among the "few" that actually use portals... Wow... always thought people would rather go the easy route. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe everybody likes to make it as hard upon them as possible and all those posts that claim the game is too hard are just a figment of my imagination...
Would explain how this world ticks... ;)

Portals make things SHORT. Not easy. Running ores home from any distance is an easy, albeit lengthy routine. Once you are out of the biome that you retrieved your ores from, the only semi-dangerous thing you can do is somehow make a 180 and walk right back in. All you got to do is carry your stuff through long stretches of harmlessness.I got the game during March of last year (right after it came out) and played for a bit to learn the ropes, then started using mods. i play vanilla with a couple of graphical mods that allow you to boost performance and make better use of decent hardware.. there are a couple of fun texture mods that increase the graphics budget by a whole bunch and add a lot of detail..

Yes! I almost have 1500 hours in game now, if not for mods it would be less (but still a lot haha).
Valheim is a fantastic game, and in early access. The platform we have to work from is superb.
I have played thru fully 8 times now.
2 Vanilla runs
2 runs with just Valheim+and a few minor Qol mods like Equipwhee mod since I'm a lefty/not easy to rebmind 1 - 8
2 runs with many mods like Epic Loot/Terraheim/Legends/Creature Level & Loot Control/DoDMonsters/Better Archery/BetterUI/Backpacks. Goal was to expand the content and add variation, no cheats.
2 runs with many mods like above but I went in and edited the configs/ymls/loot tables/etc so all the mod mobs and addins are integrated and also drop stuff from Epic Loot...all while making the game very hard via CLLC but super fun/still maintaining the Vanilla feel of what's over that next hill or can I kill this fuling with my butter knife? Haha.
Current run - fine tuning above, changing spawn rates, spawn conditions, drops, difficulty tuning, etc. Come visit my Ashlands sometime, its a fun place. Skal!

Sure some mods can make the game easier but there's also bunch of mods that make it more difficult than vanilla version. There's so many options it's definitely worth a try if you got over the vanilla and want some QoL improvements, different twist to mobs, gear and loot. Valheim+ is a good start and it's mostly QoL unless you mess with numbers.
If you haven't played through the game without mods yet, i'd say play that way first. You will appreciate mods additions way more later and you'll get the feel for the real difficulty of the game.

Hey there,
please remember that as of now modding is not officially supported. It's done at your own risk, there are no guarantees for future compatibility. Please keep backups of your save files before you start modding. If you need technical support, please always include a full list of active AND prior mods, since that can influence the game's behaviour with regard to bugs.
Have a good day!

Valheim+ is the first one I would recommend because it has the most options. You can change just about any number variable in the game, and it includes a lot of quality of life options as well. You need to alter a text file to customize it, but it tells you exactly what to do. I also use Farmgrid to make planting easier and Dodge On Double Tap.
There are others in there that make bigger changes to the game, like adding magic, better loot, and boat building, but I haven't tried those.
