There is indeed some methods of magic used by both AI and player. You can't really do things like cast fire out of your hand or create magic shields, but there's the powers you unlock from bosses such as temporarily increasing your stamina, chopping trees faster, increasing your damage, etc. Other than these powers, you can't really do things like casting magic attacks or healing. I think the gameplay focus on Valheim is more into grounded things like traditional melee combat, bow shooting, etc.

No actual magic spells you cast. Rumor has it that there are datamined fire and ice magic skills not yet in game.

Mods add magic attacks though.

There is a mod on nexus called "skyheim"
It's pretty fun. nothing too in depth though

Fuling shamans throw fireballs

There a things that hint towards the inclusion of a healing role way down the line when other mechanics are fixed, some sort of druid like role with a staff.

Fuling shaman also have a shield spell they cast. Surtling throw fireballs. There are runed items that allow teleportation (for the player) and their are special abilities that the player has that couldn't be described as anything but magic. there are wards that cast a blanket that locks all chests and doors. One of the bosses uses lightening, another can rain meteors down upon you, another can summon roots from the ground, and another still can blast frost. You chose you "correct" answer a little too rashly. "any magic or spells in the game?" - Yes and yes.

Can you go around in the (unmodded) game casting spells on ♥♥♥♥? no. But there is definitely "magic" in the game.
