Time will only pass, even on a dedicated server, if someone is logged in. Could be anyone on any part of the map. But it will require someone to be logged in for crops to grow or torches to burn etc.

I played on a dedicated with a friend and it was just the two of us for a while. I would know if he had played when I saw my fires and torches out. If no one was on those things got frozen in time.

Time does not pass on a dedicated server, if no one is logged in, unlike Conan, Ark, and the others.

I should have been more specific earlier, my mistake: Someone has to be on the server for time to pass. If time is passing in the world, crops will grow.

If everyone leaves the server the game... pauses. So no growth.

pretty sure time only progresses while you are logged in.

If the game is on a hosted server the plants will grow.

If you are solo playing where the 'server' shuts down when you exit the game well everything stops at that moment.
