True but it didn't seem like a lot at first. Early game you build one, then a second one when you get the karve and can transport more ores, and you double that as you get the longship and can haul 18 stacks of iron back to base... but yea having them work non stop requires to farm wood the whole time your kilns/smelters are working

if you are going to go big with smelters/coal consumption, you need a surtling farm.

you can't

Core logs are a different kind of wood. Like fine wood and ancient wood

you can also turn core and fine wood into coal using the kiln

be careful loading the kiln as those woods are more useful for crafting other stuff

I did that accidentally one time. I was loading the kiln, then I went to go build something and thought, "How come I can't build anything?" So I checked my inventory and thought, Where the heck did all my fine woo... Oh ♥♥♥♥!"

You know how long it took me to roll trees around before killing the first boss, to get all that fine wood?!?!

once i am in the swamp i don't need the kiln anymore, Find a good swamp with surtlling spawners and bam, a coal farm with portals daisy chained in a loop. I once got luckey enough to chain 8 of those bad boys.

In regards to the wood, yeah no way to change the type, it would be like turning oranges into apples, Lead to Gold. That kinda stuff probably won't happen.

Just plant more regular trees or farm grey dwarves (got plenty of those after all)
