Why is my building taking damage

I came back to my base after being away for a day and every panel has damage.

Nothing crumbles if I remove the lowest brick in cellar.

It's the stone I point at.

The stone is green and seems stable when it's there. Not sure. No big issue either, just strange.

Image from outside would help as well to be honest. The picture you have posted shows no obvious issues. Apart from possibly you have a second floor overhang, provided using correct roofing thatch pieces, and it is above sea wave max level then should be fine.

I have some docks, and in storms the sea washes over them a great deal, you are on an island end, maybe, it is just too low and bad weather rises water enough to flood the ground floor.

I had one of those unstable stone blocks in my home as well. It is caused by support problems, but it won't show that (nothing is red, and in my case, I tacked 5 more stone blocks on top of these). It may be some sort of round-off or rare math bug. I fixed it by just putting 2 blocks buried into their neighbors where one used to be.

as for wave damage, its a live and learn thing. Next time you build on the coast, you now know to wait for a storm to get a feel for how high you need to raise the ground. Or just raise it about 3 vikings tall.

I gave up and demolished the building and rebuilt it. I am a newb and all so it was probably some kind of support issue. It was only happening on the ground floor. the second floor never had damage. I ground floor did not have any supports to the ground I just set out floor tiles.

The new building has half pillars to the ground every 2nd floor tile and does not seem to have any damage issues yet.

I've had a strange thing happen to me twice now - One large block of stone disappears from my building. It's as if I had poked it out for a window. No structural damage around the vanished brick. Same place both times. I don't think there has been any stone material left below as it was broken down. The house is structurally sound and I have no idea why that brick has disappeared twice now, with tens of day in between, I suspect a bug of some kind.

Same happens to me but its been because the structure is not properly supported. Are the bricks around it red when you have your crafting hammer equipped?

They aren't red. It's on the ground floor. Stone floor, one large brick, then the vanishing brick on top of that. I've had this house for hundred days or so without touching this part of the house, perhaps except a wall mounted torch on the brick beside the vanishing brick. The first time I thought it potentially could have been a misclick or something odd, one time - no time, but twice for the same brick....?

edit: I'll post a screenshot of it after work. I'll try to remember it.

to clarify, a real roof. floors do not make roofs. either roof parts or later stone. otherwise anytime it rains objects take weather damage, but won't go past 50% from it, so nothing will collapse.

it is a two story building aprox 5x8 footprint. It has support beams down the center every 3 tiles. It seems only the ground floor is taking damage. I have a proper roof

sounds like a burst water pipe, or flood damage due to global warmings.

(are you near an ocean tide?)

I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that only RAIN damaged wood (not rising flood/tide waters).

Probably waves from water sometimes coming up too high and temporarily putting the wood underwater. Thus damaging it.

Nothing you can do about clipping water waves through terrain, sadly. Other than just building higher...

That would usually indicate either your roof is not correctly built or you're too close to river/sea and high waves were able to flood your base. Or perhaps enemy mobs were checking to see if they could get in?

Items under a roof do not take weather damage
