How it is now?
So I've played valheim on release, spend like 70 hours, really loved the experience. I am interested what did they improve over the year and does it have enough new content to be worth jumping in again?

You realize your argument basically amounts to saying that early access products are disfunctional and we have no reason to ever expect them to be more than that in any profferred amount of time? It's essentially victim blaming. Oopsie, silly us, we thought that Iron Gate either had some kind of reasonable understanding of what they could accomplish in a year or would at least be honest on their storefront. Hopefully in 2022 we don't make the same category of mistake again so that we don't have blatantly unfinished games begging for game-of-the-year accolades and hysterical posters on the forums calling people entitled.
No , my argument "basically" amounts to exactly what i stated. The game has been out of EA for 10 months. They have provided a bunch of effort (not going to post the same partial list again). Over 10 million people purchased and adored the game, and rated it with "overwhelmingly positive" both currently and all time. AND It won game of the year.
All of this despite the infinitesimally small percentage of players that want to come here and ♥♥♥♥ on the dev team because they deem progress unsatisfactory based on an arbitrary sliding scale they themselves can only loosely define.
Madness. But feel free to continue. You are entitled to your opinion. You are just not entitled to the 97% of the rational player base agreeing with you or even remotely endorsing your opinion.
Enjoy.
Majority seem to be of the same mind.... updates needed. It's only a handful here staunchly defending the Developer.
As to the initial rating is nothing more than a red herring, where it is now compared to release after this length of time would be amusing if not for the fact it cost money to buy.
Also critique is not "♥♥♥♥ on the dev", it is asking where is the progress promised by the developer. No customer made them claim to work further, the developers did when they sold it to us.

It was good as an early access game when it came out and if they had expanded their team and gotten more organized to roll out updates quicker it could keep getting bigger but the update schedule is SO SLOW.
I like the game, I will play it again but probably not for years when anything close to a 1.0 creeps out.
Indie devs that make good games / concepts doesn't always mean good business management or project management. I often feel like they are a deer in the headlights and don't know how to scale to meet the demand for their game or manage / set player expectations.
They have taken a large chunk of time to deliver not much of substance. My biggest concern is the roadmap removal, DayZ did the same thing and that still hasn't implemented every promise over 5 years ago.
Almost like a bait and switch advertising.
Yeah soon enough these indie devs will wise up and make certain to never post anything that looks or sounds like a road map again. When they say "here is what we hope to do" it seems too many nut jobs out there etch in into a set of stone tablets and walk around like its ordain gospel. Some of us might do well to accept the world around us and maybe , just maybe lose some of the over-developed sense of entitlement.
The same people that spent $20 on a game they ABSOLUTELY LOVED, and got hundreds of hours of gameplay out of are the people coming here talking about "Lazy, inept devs" "Broken Promises.
Reality check : It's been 10 months since EA release , and just in case you missed it above :
"To summarize - Lots of bugs squashed early on, re-balancing of foods, stamina, and combat. New materials, new structure pieces, new foods, new armors, new enemies, new crops, saddle for lox, new crafting stations. All balanced (preliminary). New dungeons in mountains very soon. New biome in the works, due out sometime in the first half of 2022."
Get it together.

Disappointing. Somehow getting a lot of money has slowed down development. I've yet to see anything of substance. I stopped playing when I realized how much change was coming. However, it's now looking like it's _years_ away from release. GOTY...no game in early access should be able to be game of the year. That's just stupid.

The only game where I get immersed in the familiar, yet unfamiliar. Strange creatures, weather shifting indicating ominous foretelling of things to come soon, yet crafting that lets you provide for your own personal defense and protection. Though multiplayer is fun, I honestly like SP more (with no spoilers) as you are not aware of what that 'thing' up ahead is or how deadly it might be. Honestly, I would just...RUN!!!

Some new lego pieces, two new enemies, optimization, redone troll model, a new armor set
Wait until the day that Steam pops up with a "Valheim: 1.0 Release!!!" on your feed sometime in 2024, IMO

O yeah, but it was so minimal that I probably wouldn't have even noticed a difference if I had only played the game back in February
