LongSwords
Similar to the battle axe, the long sword is a slow deadly two-handed weapon available in all metal tiers. I think that this would be a good addition since we have two-handed weapons for, axes, and clubs. But none for swords

I understand the want of a long sword, but How about being able to hold a different weapon in each hand like a real Vikings. Sword or knife in one hand with a fighting Axe in the other. Who needs a shield if i can block with my Axe.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

If the attack types need to be revised, It would be appropriate that two handed axe secondary attack is changed to blunt, and atgeir secondary attack slash. And then the Flesh Ripper should have a new secondary attack instead of kicking. The secondary sword attack animation certainly looks like it should deal pierce damage, I agree.

It fills the 2-handed nitch while being a sword class. Swords need some love anyway they are the least supported weapon type atm. There are only 4 swords and they are all basic metal materials with nothing unique besides doing more damage than the last and all having the same sword moveset. Nothing in the game is weak to slash, yet there are multiple important mobs that are resistant to it. The sword does not fill multiple purposes such as the axe.
I personally have zero care if a 2h sword appeared in viking mythos or reality or not. It in no way feels like an immersion breaking item in a fantasy game that holds hundreds of other immersion breaking elements to it's source material. Vikings never used a bow covered in guck that somehow automatically poisoned it's arrows or drank potions that made them resist fire melting their skin either and I could go on for literally hours.

Mytho compatibility is not really the problem. Problem is there is already a huge slash 2hander filling that role, greatsword has to be really unique to worth picking. Sure the animations could be a bit different than the battleaxe, but overall it would end up been another slash cleaver, atleast battleaxe can chop too. I see this viable either if there is no mistlands axe coming and you are forced to grab it for slash or it deals magical dmg like the silver tier weapons.
Overall, i agree as well that swords need more love.
Hmm, maybe make secondary deal pierce?
I have messed around with Dyrnwyn which may be a sword released in Mistlands. It has fire damage added, but it still holds the same moveset and slash attack pattern. Something to look forward to beyond just a pure metal blade.
The secondary sword attack animation certainly looks like it should deal pierce damage, I agree.

There also is no record of them using massive two handed hammers, they were rarer than longswords. : p I think the idea was to still have the weapons sorta grounded in viking culture, which mostly never featured swords long enough to be held in two hands
Well, hammers atleast existed in their mytho but if you look closer to the picture this "blue?" sword looks like it's a traditional 1h viking sword held by a giant, that would make sense imo to be held with 2 hands by a human.

I rly don't know what more a greatsword could offer gameplay wise. We already have the battle axe filling that role i guess.

What does it do? The battleaxe already has the sweepy combo and the pokey secondary similar to 1-hand swords. Did you actually have a gameplay idea that you thought this game could use or do you just want a skin?
