Boars can be early base defense on the cheap, they can 'tame' the land to a lesser extent than wolves, for you. As you can easily seed an island that has wolves with mating pair, that will eventually dominate the entire isle. Boars are just much weaker, they can protect against EK raids, same as bees.
2 star boar drop 3 meat and scrap, yes?
Troll heads, boar heads, neck, and deer trophy, sick to death of all them.
I likely have 8 full reg chests of troll hide(smurf suits).

I bred boars once just to do it. I ended up with more boar meat than i would ever use and had to dump in the end for storage space. By just going about your day to day business you will encounter more than enough boars to keep you well supplied even at one leg at a time.

I find that breeding boars very early (pre-Eikthyr) gives you a good boost in things requiring leather scrap, and is very useful on a multi-player server. But yeah, once you get to mid-to-late Bronze age, you're swimming in more meat than you'll ever need (if you keep at the breeding and/or are lucky enough to get starred pigs).

Wolves I could totally understand (again, especially on a multi-player server). Moreso if you're a coward like me that stays away from the Mountains at night. It's not the pelts or meat that's the issue, but trophies can be a bit rare with five or six players all wanting silver armor.

Lox breeding just isn't worth the hassle at all. You'll get more meat and hides than you'll need just looking for black metal and totems.

(And chickens, of course, are very worth it.)

If you want realism, i'd suggest you to also take into consideration it takes like a few ingame days to grow pigs and crops, that realistically takes like a few years and for stuff like carrots like 3 to 4 months.

The things people find to complain about...

Pigs are nearly always in groups and they respawn quickly. That negates the need for multiple drops.

Hunt bigger pigs. (1-star and 2-star.) They drop more.

Dont hunt miniature pigs- I mean theyre only a few pixels tall... :P
