Can I see the new biome on an old game world?
Not sure how world generation works

What do you mean too close to it? If I travel 200m away from spawn then mistlands won't appear? Yes, you can. As long as you didn't get too close too it before the update(around 200 meters away iirc).

They mean as long as you didn't get too close to the biome itself, then it should be properly added to your game. If you've already gotten too close to the biome and spawned it in before the update, then it should remain a barren wasteland. What do you mean too close to it? Basically, go searching for a fresh island that you haven't been to and when you come across the Mistlands biome, everything should be as it's meant to be.

Ok, I tested this myself because I couldn't find any information elsewhere on this but it APPEARS THAT:
If you're using an OLD world and heading out to find mistlands in unexplored area, which is what the devs said to do; YOU WILL get Mistlands, but with the caveat that the Mistlands you -DO- get are very broken, small islands, hard to navigate and pretty much unplayable.
I generated the same seed after the mistlands patch and the mistlands I went to were completely different, actual land masses and navigatable terrain. It seems like currently you need to generate a NEW seed to play this biome.
tldr: yes, you'll get it in old seeds in unexplored biomes, but it'll be broken and hard to play. You need to generate a new seed to get the intended experience.

It might be different since mistlands is actually a new biome. It was 200m in the past when the updates were just additions to existing biomes, like mountain caves or tar pit in plains. the 200m not accurate for me. It totally destroyed my portal i had in mistlands and my boat lol
