When are we ever going to get a new biome? Game released Febuary last year and not even a date,
The development for this game is so slow. Can't believe we are going on a year and 4 months since release and no new biome yet. Thank god they got rid of that roadmap cause no way any of that was going to be hit.

If one ever finds oneself whinging about white knights, then maybe it's time to look up the phrase 'white whine'.

Anyone defending the slow development of this game is just fanboying. They've made MASSIVE amounts of money and sold countless copies and are still selling copies everyday. Money is not an issue for this development so hiring more people shouldn't be either though I doubt that is the case.
People have to put yourself in the devs shoes. Think about it. You spend a year or more making a game and sort of scraping by being a little indie company and then BAM! Suddenly your game blows up and you make millions of dollars.
There's 2 ways they respond imo and one is try to capitalize on the success by doubling down and pumping out more content to keep the success coming or you take a pile of cash and go live the new life you just earned and the game goes on the backburner.
There's just no way with the amount of money they got, the exposure they got, and time it's been that the last underwhelming update the game had was justified.
I imagine they ofc are working on the game but with zero urgency at all and just mostly enjoying their new found wealth. Honestly, they earned it even though it sucks for people wanting more.
Over 10 million copies sold and even with steam taking a cut that is a ton of money for development and hiring as well as anything that is needed to speed up development.

DEVELOPMENTAL TIMES AS REFERENCE POINTS
- Star Wars Squadrons: about 3 years
- Mass Effect 1: ~4 years
- Sims 2: about 4 years
- Kenshi: 12 years total, 5 years in Early Access
- Rimworld: 5 years in Early Access
- Minecraft Dungeons: about 5 years
- Fallout 3: about 4 years with Bethesda, +2 years with Interplay
- Don't Starve: about 3 years
- Astroneer: ~3 years in Early Access
- Diablo 3: ~10 years
- Team Fortress 2: ~9 years
- Owlboy: ~10 years
- Valheim: Early Access for 16 months so far
Crazy how people complain about that IGS made millions and didn't do much updating, when there have been literally 29 updates in the last 16 months, with LOTS of work done. Updating a game isn't just about adding new content. Updating a game also means QOL, code restructuring, bug searching, bug triggering, bug fixing, and making sure those fixes don't cause a domino effect of other problems.
List of Updates in Detail: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Version_History
By your logic and the logic of other people complaining about the 'slow updates', Kenshi, Rimworld, Owlboy developers all apparently abandoned their games a long time ago. Yet, here they are, millions of copies sold later, major success stories, lots of updates too, and... [DRUM ROLL] ...fully released! OH WHO KNEW EH?! EHH?!?
🤣
No one is a fanboy for defending Valheim. It has been 16 months. SIXTEEN MONTHS! If this was 6 years and there was very little update, then yes, scream bloody murder all you want. We're educating you. That is all. Don't like it? Then perhaps save everyone the headache of your constant whining, and NEVER EVER buy Early Access again. Man this whining gets so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ old.
I've been working with software developers for over 20 years. The longest project I've worked on has been 6 years: 1 prototype, and Alpha Development at the moment. 3 million dollar budget by the client. <-- THIS IS NORMAL development time. What are your credentials to tell us that IGS is taking 'too long'?

I believe they only have around 10 people at Iron Gate AB. Game development takes time.

Buddy, you think you can do better, then by all means do so.
They have a small team and put out major updates roughly 4 times a year.

It will come. I was impatient but I've settled now that I've found enough stuff to distract me. But golly it is long.
What makes me anxious is how much the mod making community may deteriorate before every biome has something in it. There is a lot of time before the game reaches that point. The devs have been pretty committed to not releasing features before they are ready. Double edged sword.

Most successful EA games that I've followed take about 5 years to go from first release to the final version and do some kind of content release every 3-6 months. Valheim is on the slow end but not unusual.
The quality of the new content has been really good IMO and worth waiting for.

They've spent more money on white knights than they have programmers.
At least they bought a horse.
