Egg warming?

So I'm messing around with a chicken farm but cannot for the life of me figure out why the eggs on the right are warm but the ones one the left are cold. What's going on?

Google valheim shelter wiki. Basically the eggs shoot lines on different directions and a certain % of those lines must hit a buildpiece within a set distance. The building on the right probably is what allows those to stay warm.

I've been messing around with it and I think that you're right. I would have figured that the building in question was way too far away to matter, and it should be, but it does seem to keep them warm somehow.

Do you have some type of fence on the top or do the chicken stay there by themselves?

I wish I could take credit, but all I did was follow the guide in this video. The only difference is that I set it up to harvest the eggs/hens myself rather than having it automated.

If your eggs are clipping into the wall, it can cause them to not be sheltered.

Any time a raid does happen I just run outside my main gate and fight them outside so they don't damage anything.

also : where are the hens that make more eggs on that farm?

and third : any bat raid will have a field day with this chicken "farm" any non sheltered farm with openings or windows will get wiped clean by a bat raid in seconds. so either dont kill bonemass in that world or make sure they are fully locked away.

bats fokus on tames above all else. and they can fly. if you never had that raid till now you either never killed bonemass or never killed any bat....

First thing I thought about when I saw the picture. I built a lovely pig pen when I first started taming and had turned 2 boar into 7 in no time. Then the bats came...

maybe those on the left are not covered enough. on the right side I can see a house. Maybe its walls are enough for the eggs on the right side while the left ones don't profit from it. Maybe it does not matter at all but you could try to build some extra walls.

The eggs need both a fire and a shelter. So the ones on the right are sheltered enough.
