if you just shared your local world as a server then no, if you have a seperate server instance running and dont shut down that one then yes

If it's a dedicated server, running when you're not on, then yes.

If the 'server' is just the computer you play/host on and you close the game then no, of course not. Your friend can play with their same character in a world created on their computer though...meaning they can progress skills, gather resources, etc and bring all of that to your world.

These devs has a history of making lofty promises though. My bet is that the final product will have 5 or 6 bosses.

There are 5 right now. But yeah, 9 were planned. Also the possibility of future mini bosses were discussed I think.
