They should be called Houdini not chickens
Is anyone else having chickens escaping from the hen house? My current set up is dug 4 metres into the ground with stone walls all the way around. The floor level was raised a little so that there are no gaps between the floor and the bottom of the walls. The only way in is via a door with ladders leading down to the ground and of course the whole thing has a roof.
Despite all this there is always at least one little yellow Houdini that manages to escape. Apparently we Vikings are not the only ones who know magic.
My only thought is that somehow a hen lays an egg in a wall or the earth surrounding it and when it hatches the Houdini pops up on the surface. I find it mildly amusing that Chickens can get out of Fort Knox but boars can be kept inside an area surrounded only by that basic pole fence.

I've had chickens run around my base, despite the coop being completely closed. Wondered why that happened and eventually noticed some eggs at the other side of the iron bar wall, close enough to the fire to get hatched.
Which at least told me the chicken got a better aim as I have, as I've never succeeded to throw seeds in that coop from the outside.......
Thorin :)

Build your coop inside an empty troll cave. The chickens can't escape because the troll cave is an instance.
