There are a lot of topics like this.
It seems that some people with high end rigs (especially laptops) have serious problems with this game (low fps, crashing, freezing, overheating etc).
The game is not optimized yet as it is in early access. And it wont be optimized soon because developers are focused on new content. I guess optimization will come at the end stage of development.
I have Intel i5, 8 GB RAM, Radon RX570 and the game runs just fine at 30 fps at high graphic settings. Never had any problems with the game. A friend has similar stats, with weaker GPU. He runs the game at 60 fps, but it crashes a lot.

What are your temps?

If you don't do this already, try lowering fullscreen resolution? Everything will look choppy and blurry, but it greatly increases FPS for me. Granted, I'm a PC user with a 1920x1080 monitor. Hopefully this helps :)

I have I9900K and 64GB Ram and a RTX2080ti and monitor 2560x1440.
The game works great. Never had any crashes and I'm usually around 95-105 FPS.
But the game do freeze for a sec when worldsave occours and in my big building my FPS goes down to 20-35 FPS.
So big building and terraforming will results in low FPS even on high end computers.

ironic that everyone havin issues with this game...and im on a mid teir build, ((rx 5500 xt and a radeon 5 2600)) and having 0 issues

I can only guess in OP case that sins it is a laptop (notebook) GPU and CPU are clocked down due to heat issues.

You being able to run this game w/ a mid level rig isn't.

I'd recommend manually limiting framerates.

Same. GTX 1080, Ryzen 7 3.6GhZ 6-core.

No problems. Seems most of the issues are for those with newer parts.

Unfortunately I've had problems playing it on my surface pro 7. I think it has high hardware requirements being completely open world and random gen.

Just double check your laptop's stats with the games requirements.
Your aim for a pleasant game experience is to hit the recommended stats. The minimum stats only allow the game to start but not too play it nicely.
