Is mining still a tedious grind?

Haven't played in a year or so, last time we played the mining (especially in The swamp was extremely slow and dull. Avoiding spoilers: is that still the case?

Really? Digging iron is pretty quick, and at least you're exploring a dungeon with other loot.

I've heard a lot of complains about digging copper, but never iron. (Now finding the crypts yeah can be very tedious)
Most likely because scrap piles have so many parts, and whilst they don't have much hp, only 5, there's so many that you'll have to repair your pickaxe much more often than other ores.

Though i guess because of that, it increases your pickaxe skill quite a fair amount. As it's not the strength of the swing, but the amount that level your skills up.

Nothing changed, which i hope might change eventually. I find more enjoyment in exploring and clearing the area, and as a reward you could say, i gain access to the loot and ore. Though to mine the ore in regards of iron as another said is just quite sad. I'd prefer having the clearing and combat factor of the process to be more significant and challenging, rather then spending the majority of the time mining.

Hasn't changed. But there are mods for that. I agree that pounding on scrap piles in the dark isn't exciting game play, especially with how much iron you will need. (I increased the iron drop rate in my game and have figured out which things I can get away with skipping.)

It's not the mining that's the problem, it's the transportation!

Worst case scenario make a new world put a chest with all ores there then go to your base and get the ore from your other server there.

If the mining part was bad enough for you to deter you from the game, this hasn't change and won't most probably.

You can always do a server hop with your ore and than use a portal if you can't be bothered to move it by a ship/cart. It is technically cheating but at the end of the day, it's not a big deal and it saves you tons of time.

There's less of mining in the more advanced biomes. Forest to mountain are the most intensive ones.

You need to take your time to prospect location, make road to it, reach it then mine it and transport it back. It`s a long process that only gets easier as you get stronger and can skip steps in areas you are familiar with by then, but still dangerous.

You'll get better pickaxes as the game progresses and when your skill level goes up, it gets faster. Still there is the transportation and limits from carrying capacity, but it is easier and faster to move stuff about and mine it.

Yes. Virtually nothing has changed in that regard no matter how you approach it.

We built roads etc, that part was enjoyable (once). The actual mining part was not at all. Shame to hear it hasn't changed.

Thanks for the replies!
