It is strange that the OP is complaining about having to kill hundreds of enemies for a drop, when the game play loop is pretty much "do things over and over". I bet you've chopped down a thousand trees, mined iron for hours in Swamp tombs, and enjoyed the scenery while spending hours in a boat slowly going somewhere.

IIRC, one trophy (think it was Deathsquito) took me weeks to get. On the upside I had tons of mats for needle arrows. The one special skeleton guy with the poison looking aura - you might find one in a tomb... might. That one took forever.

Hell, I remember slaughtering thousands upon thousands of mobs in WoW to get a rare pet... Valheim's grind isn't bad at all.

Sorry to hear ofd your experience but it snot my own had several Drake tropheys drop (about 1 in 15 I'd guess) BUT your point is valid RNG can do weird stuff. A usufl "feature" i'd add tot he trader would be to exchange a specified amount of say (in this case) frost glands for a Drake trophey if the RNG is screwing you over in a given world?

Whilst not in Valhiem i was trying to get a rare drop in Lostark from Graveyard after 200+ kills of the only mob that spawned it..i gave up and uninstalled.. 240hrs in game but was getting similar delaying.."issues" everwhere.. So i feel your pain there is a delicate balance between reward and frustration.. but hey its EA there may be a bug or a prerequisite somehow missing..

Don't know what the drop rate is, but part of the problem getting them is you generally shoot them while they are in the air. Finding the drops or even seeing them can be tricky in the mountain terrain. They don't seem particularly rare, though. Stay with it and one is bound to drop soon...

I'm all for a challange, but if the task is monotonous, easy and boring (cause drakes aren't exactly hard to kill) then a huge grind is not justified

It used to be way worse, back in like March/April of last year the drop rates were like 1%-5% and it was nearly impossible to actually get the two needed to make the helmet. They doubled the drop rate in like late April or May though so if you are still having issues I’d recon you’re just getting pretty unlucky as I think the rate is like 10% now.

Keep exploring , drakes are annoying AF because is the most spawneable mob in mountains you will get it in time
From near 400 i got 9 heads , more if some of them didnt fall i an imposible place to reach
