So I'm An Idiot...

I have been trying to domesticate a boar i captured for over a week real-time. Turns out the damned thing has been domesticated the entire time. To elaborate: To domesticate a boar, capture and contain it, throw food into its containment, and keep your distance.

The last part is where i'm an idiot and what i would like the devs to add something. I kept my distance but highlighted m cursor over the boar, and every time it just said boar. I was always expecting it to say boar(tamed) or something altered to that effect.

I could have been breeding them for about a week now. My wish simple, please make it clear from a distance the change in temper. I feel like a damned idiot. Also, i now have a boar farm to look forward to.

I don't think alerting _boars_ is such a big problem. They calm down well before they can destroy a stick fence.
Wolves on the other hand... they can chew iron bars in no time...

No, you are not an idiot. You can't know a boar is tamed or still under taming until you either

- throw them more food and see if the yellow hearts effect still plays or don't;
- approach them carefully (stealthy) until you can actually read their label "Tamed boar" or "Tamed X%", but generally you'll trigger the alert yellow icon before, in the later case.

Oh no LOL happens to the best of us. It isn't super obvious, but if you put your crosshairs over the animal, it will tell your its status. Helpful when you have both tamed and untamed wolves around. The yellow hearts are a good indication the animal is being tamed, but only if it has recently eaten. Hungry animals will stop acclimating, and so they will no longer have hearts coming out.

I feel your pain, though - I was running to a crypt the other day with my friend behind me, or so I thought - it was a 1 star draugr. "We are here, Lefty! Let's go in and - Holy God! You're not Lefty!"

Honestly I have to agree with the OP a bit here.

One of my small complaints is needing to be too close to get the % tamed reading. It really should pop in from a greater distance.

Also if you are close you get a audio cue that they are tamed as well as text. But you have to be close at the time they tame.

Or perhaps a "Pen Sign" craftable item that you could stick to the corner of any pen that would tell you the tameness of whatever is inside. Not sure how it would work with multiple creatures in one pen, but I'm sure it could be done.. just annoying to code, probably.

That way, you could just Stealth to the sign, or maybe connect it to the pen in such a fashion (via a wood offshoot or something) that you could read the sign out of threat range.

When it's getting tamed, there are little hearts that fly out of it. The hearts fill with another color as taming progresses. You can see the hearts from outside alert distance.
