My character refuses to run. Why?
Started a brand new character in a brand new world. Haven't even picked up so much as a stick yet but my character refuses to run. I tried hitting C to toggle walk/run and I do get a message in the top left stating that walk is turned off or on but my character refuses to run.
If walk is off, he walks slowly instead. Holding shift down makes him walk a little faster, and the run skill seems to level up because of it.
However, turning walk ON results in a faster walk.
It's a strange bug that I can't find any info on because the reddit posts only go so far as people discussing using the C button to toggle it. Therein lies the issue.
Anyone know what's going on with this?

I guess its possible that the game thinks you're using a controller and is reading your movement input as the minimum joystick movement.

L shift is Sprint
c toggles the run/walk mode .. sprinting while walking puts it in run mode again
Watch your stamina

I am assuming you had an old character and an old world and your old character ran normally.
Start the old character in the old world and see if he or she runs normally. If so, your game installation is probably OK and the problem resides in the new character or new world file. If not, then your game installation may have gone south or you may have a hardware problem.
Quit, then start the new character in the old world to see if the new character runs normally. If so, the new character file is probably OK and the problem may reside in the new world file. If not, your new character file may have gone south.

The whole idea is to get a known working model, hopefully your computer, your old character, and your old world. Then replace one part of the working model with one part of the non-working model until the working model no longer works.
