Mining & terrain slopes
I am having a re-occurring problem and I feel that I'm too much of a brainlet to figure out why it's happening. When I am mining deep holes (hole > 15-30m deep), I am having trouble keeping the terrain flattened as I expand the hole. In videos on YouTube I see content creators effortlessly dig perfect holes without an issue. What I'm running into is that when I go to expand on the horizontal axis, the new spots I'm crushing with a pick-axe are creating invulnerable inclines that I cannot dig through. This results in all of these inclining slopes all over my hole and I cannot level them out.
For context, I am using the node-explosion strategy where I dig completely under a Copper node and then once you crush a node section the whole node explodes. If video footage is required I can take some time to record & post it. I've done it before in an older mission file. My current file I just recently tried to do it but it was difficult because of all of these inclining slopes.
What am I missing and what do I need to do differently?

yes i agree you have hit base of ground terrain.. if you watch pickaxe nothing differs before or after hit.. just impact animation but no change

There is a mod ,called dig deeper which may help.

Ignore the mod, it's not the issue. Dig depth is capped so if you're mining on a slope, and dig down to the deepest level possible, you will also create a slop--just deeper down than the original slope. If you're going to dig down to the deepest level, then start at the TOP of your slope and dig down. Once you find the bottom (where you can't dig further), then dig outward to create the level space. Level it based on digging down from the HIGHEST point, not the LOWEST point of your slope. That might help.

You should see "sparks" fly when you hit something with the pickaxe that no longer can be dug deeper.

This does nothing to help the OP learn, nor help the game in general.

Just find Copper nodes that are not on inclines, even though it's easier to stand on the top of the hill and break it from there vs carving out around the entire thing. It's very sitautional.

There is an alternative method for mining where you raise the ground to cover all but a tiny corner of the node, then if mining that piece leaves everything else below the surface the whole thing explodes into ore. You kinda need a hitbox visualiser mod to do it reliably though.

Thank you very much. I didn't know that dig depth worked that way so I will try that instead for my next nodes. I was doing literally the exact opposite, starting at the lowest point of the slope and then trying to even it across. Ignore the mod, it's not the issue. Ehm dig have a limit of 8m from top if im right , when reach the limit happen what you said
And from what time were those videos ? Terraformimg was changed in mid last year so a lot of video content are pretty useless now ( thats why making full content videos for a version of an EA its not so good , game can change and lot of these content become a waste )
