I suspect that trader has changed to be a random placement after seed generation?

Mine was almost at the south pole A friend of mine used some software to check locations using my seed, and all he could say was "You got boned." It's very random. Besure to build a portal so you don't have to do it again !!!!!!!!

I used this website to peek at my seed. There was one semi-close to the center, two islands and boat over. All the rest, maybe 5 more, were scattered along the outer map edge. And yes, ffs take what you'll need to build a small base nearby for your portal.

most of his spawn points will be in a blackforest within a couple islands away from centre, Best bet to ensure he spawns as close as possible is explore new islands in a circular pattern from the centre.

Nah. The trader has a few set fixed locations. The first one you fine is where he'll be. He doesn't change after world generation; he will always be at one of those spots.

Look on valheim-map.world with your seed to confirm.

If that seed was posted before the Mistlands update, then the Trader locations will likely have changed for new maps using that same seed (AFAIK).
