Daytime length
Now, in the thread about winds I commented that I like sailing in daylight. The past few days I've been playing Valheim, I've thought that the days felt awfully short. (They're probably about equal length, really).
It feels like the game is set in a northern summer, but summer this far north, days are LONG, while the ngihts are more like 3-4 hours of dusk. When playing the game, that feels a bit off.
It would be nice if there were either seasons where the day/night lengths were different, or perpetual summer, or something we could define for something between midsummer and fimbulwinter.
Mods, perhaps, I'm not sure it needs a real game change. Still, it'd be nice.

Night tends to be harder and scarier so it feels longer.

If you go by the definition that day is when 'It's day 102' pops up, you are right. But I'm talking about sunlight.
You've probably noticed that there's no sunlight when that message pops up, right? Not for a long time.
In the same way, it's been pretty dark for quite a while when the 'it's cold' message pops up - which by that definition is nightfall.
So... your message is basically irrelevant.

It depends where you are on the "world".
Although it is a flat disk it is as though the sun is "South".
So the further North you go the days get shorter and the sun arcs lower in the sky in the Far North biome. Kind of funny watching the sun going yo-yo jumping between Black Forest and Far North.
In the south it turns night but really it seems when you are in Ashlands it is eternal day.
So length of daylight depends on biome you are in. At sea it gets light fairly close to the Day / Night cycle does it not? Not really timed it honestly per biome.

I guess think of it as the 21 - 9 cycle being the base cycle the effects are based off of but the actual daylight is modified by the biome you are in.

Relaly? That IS interesting. I haven't travelled far enough to see that.
I guess it's time to go south. :D
