Imagine breaking your hammer in the middle of Black forest and having to run all the way back just to repair the hammer to be able to do anything. Not to mention Wood bow that breaks before even killing one Troll.

You often need a higher level of your workbench as well, to repair advanced stuff. So I guess the intention is, that you have to do basebuilding – what seems to be fair.
If you get angry, maybe you can try find a way to incclude it into your way of playing the game.
E.g. you can build a small and nice mining camp next to mines, to repair your tool.
And build save houses on longer roads or so.

I think its necessary to have that mecanic. But what you can change is your way dealing with it.

You always can create a new hammer & workbench – independent from the biome you are in.

Yep I always do that. Build a nice cozy little mining outpost. A humble 3x3, enough to get me a comfort 8-9 rest bonus, as well as repair my pickaxes

It’s entirely your fault for being sloppy and letting your equipment degrade that much. This isn’t a game that gives you medals for f—-ing up.

Also the whole roof to repair thing is a simple game mechanic, pretty much like the one that prevents ore teleport.

This annoyed me at first but now I realize it's a good incentive to keep building houses regularly and make plenty of spawn points.

Ever work on something in the rain? You do not spend the time needed to fix something right, so yes, you should need a roof over your head. Each and every player deserves a roof over their head.

Lol Yeah.. could you imagine that guy running to wherever his base is for 10min+ only to realize he could've fixed his problem by looting around for less than 1 minute.

Is it seriously that much of an inconvenience to plap down a tiny shack for a workbench to repair stuff...?
