Love this game, But mistlands is killing this game.

So, I get its early access. I also LOVE this game with a burning passion as SO many others do. However.... This game is starting to have a MAJOR problem. The devs are taking ENTIRELY way to long to get new content out. If they don't spend up the pace, any player base left to this game is going to die out. What on earth is taking so long? They need to hire more devs or something, because at this point they are going to run into the same problem so many other games have ran into. The player base is just going to leave due to waiting forever. I love this game and dont want that to happen to it. Though, with how long its just taken to get mistlands out, and the fact that they have 4 more biomes to go... welp.... lets just call them Kingdom Hearts 3. We might have the game finished in 15 years :)

Serious question: why should the devs care if existing players leave? They've already paid for the game, a new biome will not generate any revenue from this audience.

Even if Mistlands was released today you would have people spend only so much time before whining and complaining for more.

If you are worried about burning out from playing Valheim - find other games while waiting for future content. This is a small indie company that took whoever know's how long to get the base early access product that people then had the chance to invest in. No matter how successful they became for said game - that doesn't equate to major increases in speed when it comes to development and Valheim did manage to hire 1 or 2 more developers who then would have to be trained to work on said game with said team.

You may love this game but to me you don't really know how to approach an Early Access game. It's not like we have foresight to know whether Valheim will even release or not, how often content is dropped and so on. You either invest into the early game and choose to play or not.

Groaning and moaning about development pace will only put you in the camp of those who continue to beat on a dead horse thinking that they are performing some version of cpr or necromancy. Valheim also doesn't really require a large community of constant players unlike some sort of pvp game or "live service" game. People leaving is actually probably a good thing because then they can come back fresh as opposed to completely burning out.

Codswallop!
Playerbase? WTF does a playerbase have to do with anything?
I'm not going to die out any time soon and I can certainly wait patiently for the game to be developed. Most of the EA titles I've invested in have taken years to reach a successful release. I see no good reason to worry about this one.
The dev's have the funding, the commitment and the vision.
It's you that lacks patience... oh and a rather odd fascination with a playerbase that has no relevance whatsoever o.O

BTW, here's a thought for you to play with... when Mistlands is released, do you think that's it? There's more to come after Mistlands and it's a longer way off!
How's that for a little perspective? ;)

So, I think you are a bit confused. You keep commenting about groaning and whining yet the only one really doing that here is you, feedback is what forums are for, if you dont like it, you might want to leave them.

Your terrible attitude aside. It's been a year in a half since Valheim released, since then we have gotta few small patches with the only real progress on the game, being Hearth and home. I dont know how much you actually know about Game development, or about game history. However, I know quite a bit. so let me educate you! :D A year in a half, is enough time to pump out a full fledged highly developed game. For instance, Overwatch 2. is readying for release and it took, about two years. Keep in mind, it got nailed by Covid. In short though. 2 years to slam out a massive game. Now I understand that Irongate is a smaller team. However, they made....19... point.... 1.... MILLION. They have the money to expand their team. :) That said.... They are taking the time it takes to produce a FULL game, to make ONE Biome. If you can't see the problem with that I don't know what to say to you that isnt an insult at your intelligence xD

Easy answer. A future. Iron Gate is a starting out Development team. They started out strong, but they are going to quickly go under at this rate. If they want to keep their success, then they will care a ton. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE this company and Valheim, but from one Professional to another (another being them.) They gotta get a move on.

I was just reading the reviews for another game that rolls out tons of new content. You know what the major complaint was? Bugs. They weren't fixing bugs, apparently, they were just rolling out new content and features.

When Valheim was released it sold a huge number of copies, and the result was that bugs were flushed out of the deep, deep woodwork. The devs put a huge effort into fixing bugs, which is ongoing.

But they are going to be able to turn their attention more and more to new content, which is a lot easier to do when you have a solid platform to build on.

I hope they take their time with Mistlands and get it right, with lots of lavish detail and no bugs. Maybe just a little more detail than any other biome's debut.

Instances of you whining about game development:
"Love this game, But mistlands is killing this game."
"However.... This game is starting to have a MAJOR problem."
"The devs are taking ENTIRELY way to long to get new content out."
"What on earth is taking so long?"
" I love this game and dont want that to happen to it. Though, with how long its just taken to get mistlands out,"

I know about game development enough not to compare an apple to an orange and think that they should be the same thing. The amount of fallacies you spout on regarding this topic is appalling to me.

You say that a year and a half is enough time to pump out a full fledged highly developed game and then immediately wreck your own logic by saying that Overwatch 2 took two years while leaving out it being Overwatch "2" aka it has previous assets, mechanisms, systems, trained developers, etc... to take full advantage of plus it's Blizzard which is a massive company in the USA that doesn't even treat it's workers right (otherwise why unionize?) compared to European game companies that treat workers better when it comes to vacation / time off and whatever else that may slow down the development of a game that isn't in a unfettered capitalist society like USA.

As stated they hired like 1 or 2 more people and with an initial team of what... 4-6 people that is a lot. And yes having a ton of money doesn't mean instant gratification for people like you who are impatient for new content - it may eventually speed up development but better will result in a financial cushion to stabilize what the developers are already working on and may increase future content releases as well.

It's clear to me that you boast a big game yet fall completely short on logic and common sense. The developers made the mistake of creating an ambitious road map and didn't realize that releasing an early version of the game to so many different computer set ups would result in a lot more time finessing said game before/while continuing on with future content. You equating Valheim and it's dev team to Overwatch 2 and Blizzard is beyond hilarious.

edit: No point awarding you with a clown lol.

Do you have access to their book?

They could literally say "well this is it, this is v1" and they would still have a bright future since the game sold so well and was such a success.

lol they have a very strong start I agree fully, though that is half the point of this thread. I LOVE this game and Irongates has done so good. I am getting very worried though that perhaps they are taking too much for granted at this point.

No matter how you look at it, we will need a cryogenic machine to see Valheim in it's released state.

Just give up waiting, treat it like a meme, and play something else if it bothers you so much (I've been playing Deep Rock Galactic a game made my Coffee Stain). I haven't even modded Valheim yet, and I know what's waiting for me on the modded side: a lot of good (and bad) mods, until another update comes out to break most of the mods. Maybe find more things to do in Valheim? It's a sandbox survival game afterall.
