I'm sorry OP but you're objectively incorrect, this game has the best game hint ever: "birds are a good source of feathers" - did you even look at the loading screen?

Lots of haters out there. I wish more people would try to be productive in their input and if you are commenting on someone else's review or opinion, try not to be patronizing, insulting, or diminishing.
I can agree with some of what this person said.
I do like games that I have to figure things out. I don't like games where I can waste three hours doing nothing that is productive to the game. The problem, for me, with a sandbox THIS open is that it is sort of like a gatekeeper builder more than anything. "If you know, you know. If not, no one is going to tell you so you had better put in the time and effort like the rest of us did"
People have varying amounts of time that they can put into recreational gaming. If you can put in 5 hours multiple times per week to try to learn how THIS game wants you to establish a forge, build armor, mainline resource production/acquisition, AND learn the mechanics to fighting, the importance of boats, the clever tricks to manipulate the systems... Good for you.
Don't hate on someone who wishes there was at least SOME sort of directive list or task priority. I think this should be labeled Viking Survival Simulator and let the bosses be sort of a perk to putting in effort and establishing a world.
At the end of the day, nothing is deep enough, clear enough, pretty enough, or polished enough to make me want to play more.
It isn't pretty enough to make me want to look at it. It isn't clear enough that I understand where to focus my attention. It isn't deep enough or polished enough for me to trust my intuition as to what I should do first/next.

This is why so many good games get nerfed to the point of oblivion. Too many people used to getting trophy's just for showing up, having the parental cheerleaders throwing them a party whenever they walk in the room, wanting their hand held while the devs throw blankets of rose petals at their feet to guide them through the game to the next encounter. When they've grown up in the years of the powdered tushie they can't be expected to take 2 seconds and think, it should all be handed to them. It's not a twitch or git gud game, all it takes is a little patience and a few seconds of thought.

Valheim is a pretty easy game that has already been dumbed down a lot because window licking whiners complained that it was 'too hard' instead of thinking through the challenges. Now the mobs run circles around you and come in to take a swipe once in a while instead of getting in your face and challenging the player. The aggression of all mobs have been tweaked down since the game started. There's very little challenge until you get the wolf hunt event. The bosses are fairly easy if you have a pick and a hoe. If you take your time and don't rush there's minimal danger until you hit the Mistlands. Now, even that's been nerfed because whiner's complained instead of trying to figure out tactics that would work in the new biome.

The devs expect at least some level of intelligence in the players.

This is literally my favorite game ever, so to each their own I suppose.

starting with nothing was a major part of the fun for me, had to makeup my own quest. Was ok tho, Odin was with us!

Valheim is a game that requires you to try things and figure them out for yourself. It's very sparse with advice or directing the player, and that seems to be one of the bigger selling points. At least it was for me since I love figuring things out myself.

If that kind of gameplay isn't what attracts you then Valheim might not be for you. There's of course the option of reading about everything online and skipping figuring anything out, but to me that kind of makes it pointless to play Valheim. To each their own though.

What are you looking for? There are at least 5 useful things near all spawn ins.
wood. rock. flint. berry. mushroom. After about 10 seconds, boar, and if lucky or skilled, deer. After about 10 min you have a little starter hut & 20 more things to make.

My suspicion is that you missed the hammer, which lets you build things. Its one of the first items you can make, once you have a rock & a stick.
