Yes we both constantly interact with the Cartographer Table, and we both have the share map icon activated. We first realised something was amiss when I logged on after my son had been online for a few hours exploring in the longship. I opened the large map to see where he was, and all I could see was his red dot icon in the middle of what appeared on my map as a large unexplored area. I said to him don't forget to interact with the cartography table so I can see the area you are presently in. He replied that he had already set up a portal and had interacted with the table a few minutes earlier.

Um, strange... My son and his wife and I haven't tried to share maps with each other since the last patch, but it looks like a bug. Maybe it would be good to send it to the bugs&problems subforum ...

After defeating Moder the wishbone would still ping on the Mountain but digging down would reveal a hidden skeleton but no silver. Disappointing since I wanted to apply another couple of upgrades before venturing into the Plains.

This does not seem correct to me. Can anyone else who has killed Moder comment on this?

This doesn't have anything to do with killing Moder. You can find buried remains on the mountain that the wishbone triggers its effect for. He just happened to find buried remains instead of a silver vein. Bad luck.

I just beat bonemass as well, I found like 5 mountains none had silver, Then I went much further from spawn and found a massive mountain. Not sure if the size is because of the distance from spawn or not, but there are baby mountains and massive mountains. I found silver very quickly on the big mountain. You will know right away if its big because it will be very steep.

We had the same problem on the mountains on our home island. It seems there needs to be Stone and/or Ice Golems along with obsidian for the mountain biome to have detectable silver. At lease that was our experience.

What I do now, is after detecting the silver, I dig down and expose the vein and mark it on my map with an icon & name (silver), but I do not tap the vein with my pickaxe. A single hit with a pickaxe will stop the wishbone's pulse detection sound. I do this when I am not prepared to mine and transport the silver ore, so when I go back I can find the ore easily enough by using my map, in case I forgot to bring my wishbone. I don't tap the vein, so it will still ping if my son is looking for silver in the same area. We don't always play at the same times, and our map sharing feature does not always work as it should.

It might be of interest to you that you can safely use the bone pickaxe (and possibly also the bronze pickaxe, but I can't remember and haven't tested it recently) to clear around a silver vein, and even if you strike the vein, it won't stop the Wishbone from pinging that vein. If it doesn't inflict damage on the vein, it won't make the vein act as though it's been discovered. Convenient if you want to dig down to or fully expose a silver vein without risking accidentally catching the edge of it with your pickaxe and stopping it from pinging.

Just use map markers when you find silver. There's a cartography table that helps share map info.

Just higher up. You need a tall mountain. If there's no obsidian then it's too small.

Some mountains are just not big enough. If obsidian is around, then the area can have silver.

Also silver shows as a big Y shaped. Mine it like you do copper than hit the center and it should all come down. But yes high up near where the drakes live
