The textures were quite jarring at first for me, i have grown to love it, the environmental aspect is where the game shines

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, the game is basically just full of aughts-level depth of field and lighting effects and otherwise looks like Black & White or something. Regardless of this, graphics work is hardly the first priority for this game which is currently about 7 months behind its original schedule and where the ability to delete items is considered a major update.

The majority of people left in the community may not agree with OP. I would guess the majority of people familiar with what a modern video game looks like would instantly recognize this as a small-team project and probably place its date of release sometime before Journey.

It seems like your eyes, monitor or honesty are broken though, I played straight through this game feeling like the graphics were subpar and I never had any of these problems

It sounds like Depth of Field to me. Just turn it off.

When I played, I liked to turn DoF on for screenshots, because it looks more artistic. But for gameplay, it just makes everything blurry.

It's still a potato and you will love it.

I don't believe there have been any major updates to graphics. There were some to lighting in H&H.

are you sure you did not have depth of field on?

My thoughts about the graphics in valheim, it is the most beautiful game of its kind. Valheim is the game on steam I have had spend the most time inside.

They will never up the graphics. It was never their intention to up the graphics. With the exception of some assets, most of this stuff isn't placeholder. The game has been considerably optimized though which may as well be considered a rendering advancement.

Sounds like you need a new monitor or even PC. Or perhaps you need to tweak your color settings. Valheim is a beautiful game.

valheim is a gorgeous game i love it dont play as much as i want cuz i have no one to play with but it is very beautiful just play with your settings til it fits u that is what i did

I get art is subjective... but this is a gorgeous game... Have you considered glasses maybe? Not sure where the chore is... Because the entire game is pretty freaking fun. IMHO

Sounds like you're referring to the blur effect on things away from the center of the screen. I think that's just an intentional part of the visual style. You're in another dimension/realm and they probably wanted to give it a more dream-like quality. Things clarify when you look directly at them. They blur out a bit when you look away. If you want to see something more clearly, look directly at it. I dunno if there's a setting for this, but I never minded it so I never looked. I thought the dreamlike quality was a nice touch.
