Is this normal (enemy spawn) ?
First you have grey dwarves spawning around the base every now and then - sometimes normal, sometimes Berseker or similar.
Currently ingame day 60, defeated bone mass and found silver and processed - Now spawn skeletons around the base is this normal ? The first time I noticed this I thought I had missed an event.
Not that it bothers, it's even amusing because the skeletons are fighting with the gray dwarves. I had restarted 1-2 times and had not gotten past the Elder so I was wondering if this is normal or a mod triggers this.

Yes, that's normal. The Skeleton Surprise event was unlocked when you defeated Bonemass.

I haven't had the surprise event with the skeletons yet - but I mean standard mob spawn around the base.

Yes, that includes the regular nightspawns which occur in the same locations which are actually wherever you may happen to be ;)
The night spawns are the dev's crafty reminder not to keep working through the night and to go to bed ;)
According to the developers, it should be a bit more dangerous in the future - I'm not sure if at night or during the day, but I like it.
The gray dwarves I have because of the bow skill gladly killed at night from the base but to watch as the fight with the skeletons is funny.

I don't think he's talking about the Event. In the meadows, after defeating Bonemass, Skeletons 'do' spawn every night, usually in the same locations. They'll kill everything around them, which is annoying.

Yes, that's normal. The Skeleton Surprise event was unlocked when you defeated Bonemass.
Just bear in mind that events are directed at you and not at your 'base'. That means the chance for a Skeleton Surprise event can occur anywhere, in any biome and only require you to remain in the vicinity of three structures you have built.
It's a clever if not devious mechanic employed by the dev's to encourage you to get out more and explore the world rather than sit around in your base ;)
