Does anyone constantly make new metal arrows for use and why?
IMO i think this is not worth it sins it takes 5 ingots for 100 arrows.
100 arrows can seems many in the begining but soon enough realized it can be gone in a flash.
Maybe I would do it if I got 100 arrows for 1 metal ingot. Other than that I rather save my metal for later use or prioritize it to make other things.
Just curious how other players do and thinks about this.

I have 800-900h and now I have 2 stacks of arrow with me, needle and wood. I did however use fire arrows to take down the second boss and make use of all the arrows found in crypts and stuff along the way up to the mountain.
Then I actually started to make obsidian arrows myself.
After that i mainly have been using wood arrows sins they oneshot most of the enemy from distance anyway and either Needle or Obsidan for loxes and stuff.
I guess i'm a bit lazy when it comes to making arrows :)

Fair enough :) I make metal arrows, but only for special situations. My go-to arrows are wood and fire.
Still wonder if more are making metal arrows.

The amount of effort that goes into extracting and smelting ore makes it prohibitively expensive to make metal arrows. This is doubly true since you can collect ironhead and poison arrows from Sunken Crypts as you collect iron scrap. Why make what you can scavenge?
There are only a few arrows I will ever make. Wood arrows are my go-to hunting arrows, good for game and unsuspecting targets. I will make a stack of fire arrows to kill The Elder (and save for growths in the plains). Poison and Obsidian arrows work wonders against Moder. Once I'm in the plains, poison arrows are excellent for sniping fulings. Needle arrows become my general use arrow for anything bigger than deathsquitos.

Flint will do me fine. I store away the better arrows that I find from chests until I get to the swamps, only reverting to flint once they have ran out. Then I go to obsidian and needles once I can make them.
Metals are important to progression and have many other long term uses. They take longer to gather than other materials because they can't be teleported. They are also much heavier to bring back than other arrowhead materials. And even after gathering you also have to factor the coal cost just to turn them into ingots. Crafting your own metal tipped arrows seems like an economically terrible choice.
Might have been nice if metal arrows had a chance of being reusable.

I use flint (easy to get large amounts exploring a few burial chambers in the BF) and needle arrows.
I only use others when I find them in the world and there are enough of them to make it worth the use.

I usually go with just plain arrows, as with a good bow, they deal plenty of damage to most things, and are so easy to make. I could see possibly using metal arrows if you have large stocks of metals that are going to do nothing but take up space in chests for the foreseeable future... But really, basic arrows, and if you want some extra firepower, needles are still quite easy to make out of portable materials. They do help bring down things like Lox and berserkers faster.
Bronze seems almost the biggest waste of all, needing three non-portable ores per batch of arrows, and iron is also pretty wasteful, seeing all the things iron goes into (not least of all, bigger chests). As above, obsidian arrows are a fine mid-grade option, largely because obsidian is portable and not really consumed by much else. Frost arrows are nice for their freeze factor against certain enemies, and fire arrows are nice for their bonus damage. To be competitive, I feel like the metal arrows would need some serious bonus damage against certain targets.

I upgraded my arrows as quickly as possible as I progressed in order to kill things as quickly as possible. The longer the fight, the greater the chance something would kill me. I never felt like I was wasting metal for the arrows.
Edit:
In fact, I was more concerned about running out of feathers than I ever was about metal or the other special materials. lol

I usually stick with flint arrows until I go into the mountains. Then I switch to obsidian or use fire arrows if I have them lying around. I usually have a couple stacks of iron and poison arrows from the swamp crypts, but i never bother using my bronze or iron to craft arrows.

I wouldnt waste iron or bronze for arrows even if it was 1 ingot for 200 arrows. There simply is alot more effective arrows with dedicated rescources to go for.
I played 550hours before i held an bronze arrow in my inventory for the first time. (And no, my friend crafted that one).

Back in the early days (maybe <800-900 hours in) I used to use mostly reg wood arrows - easy cheap and effective. I'd splurge with the better ones for special occasions.
Now that i'm approaching 1300 hours I only use needle arrows, even for picking off birds. I just go to a single player world and spawn enough to fill my inventory every now and again.

Would love to hear why people do craft arrows from non-teleportable resources since in my mind, if i have the time to kite and pepper some baddie with arrows then i have the time to do it with regular arrows. Have used even fire arrows against abominations and elder but other than that have not felt the need to kill something "quickly" with fancy arrows.
Maybe would consider having a workbench and teleport near some resource just to make a stack of special arrows but like said, never felt the need for them.
Granted, i am looking for 4th boss summoning place and thinking that maybe i actually should craft some special arrows for him.

I get around "field crafting" my arrows by always have 2-300 in my inventory.
