I'm scared.
I found Yagluth. :(
His "Fingers" are conveniently located near the coast on a mid-sized island. There is not much around it. A few Lox here and there, a lonesome Fuling, a village further to the west (do I need to clear it out first?), two tar pits even further west and southwest.
Not sure if I should give it a try or not, or if I should raze the island to the ground first. Would be a LOT of work...

What food were you using? That might explain it
As written above mostly lox pie and blood pudding, and a mix of sausages, wolf jerky and last, because I COMPLETELY forgot I had it, serpent stew. :P
Edit: And my apologies: Thank you all for your tips, well wishes and congratulations. I really appreciate it. :)

Regarding razing the island to the ground: the quickest version of that for plains is making friends with some lox and breeding them until everything else is a greasy stain.

Yay congrats on a well fought fight. Put him down and up on the wall.
re nascarman, Outheal his attacks? Maybe before h&h update. he's not tankable anymore, full padded, full health and potions don't even protect that great from him

Well, I was trying to do what @Fzanco (I hope I got their name right) was doing. Full lvl 2 Fenris set (but additionally with fire protection potion), Lvl 3 Frostner, Lvl 3 Black Metal shield. I also have the bow with me (Lvl 3 Draugr Fang with 20odd frost arrows and 60odd needles). Also the Black Metal atgeir (Lvl 3) for mobs.
I'm not a fan of digging moats or under altars. I just plop my portal down, hop over and start the fight. If things go south, I jump through the portal, pick me up and continue the fight.
That's how my last boss fights have been. Usually die once during the fight.
As said, it's a middlish island. His spawn point is very close to a bay in the north east.
Seed is Pct2NspXkR.
Edit: I usually try to contain the boss to their spawn points as much as I can to not draw unwanted attention from the other denizens on this island. So far, this has worked out pretty well.
Edit2: I also have a full lvl 3 padded armor set with me, if need be. But I'd like to keep the fire protection of the Fenris set.
Based on your armor and weapons and your intention to fight the boss toe to toe, I can't help but feel your success in downing them may be questionable. Each boss tends to have different methods that can conspired against you.
If you need to be able to move around the area to engage him and would potentially get other mobs from other parts involved, then that of course would influence your decisions.
2 Easiest methods to down yagluth:
1. Large 2 star wolf pack on him when he spawns (kill yag in seconds.) You can either bring the mass pack to the altar or build a sizable breeding pen there which also converts the altar into a reusable arena if you need to kill them more than once in the future(afterall we do not know the current yagluth's place holder item's function/need yet.
2. Floor clip method: I suggest looking this one up on youtube to better understand as its harder to write about. It essentially involved making a semi shallow put, having flooring above it that you can place fast after spawning the boss, he'll come to you and wont aggro but part of his body will clip through the flooring allowing you to knife em to death without any chance of his attacking you.

So, got him down. Took me two deaths, but it worked. I found out the best method in the end. Padded leggings and helmet, but for speed the Fenris chest. Frostner and Black Metal shield were a given anyway.
Arrows were useless. The only real damage came from Frostner. Those meteors are bad, but you can hide temporarily behind the "Fingers". They look bad now. :D
Full padded was too slow, full Fenris to vulnerable.
Well, I got him. Thanks for all the tips anyway! :)
Edit: Best food combo was serpent stew and lox pie for HP, blood pudding for Stamina. Even though I sometimes wished I had more stamina. I used all my medium health potions I had, or I would have died even more. I think it were six or eight. Probably six.

How is it too slow when you barely have to move to kill him, you literally outheal most of his attacks

I didn't outheal his attacks. I had to use a lot of potions and dodge the meteors. I had to get back in the fight.
Edit: I'm obviously not as badass as you. ;)

Without knowing your intended game plan and playstyle with regards to how you will defeat the boss, we have know way of really saying one way or the other, as well since we also don't know the island size area and other potential(or not variables).

Ditch the fenris gear. Just use leveled up padded armor since it protects better against the lightning and fire (armor points reduces fire and lightning damage), use a frostner or silver sword, lvl 3 blackmetal shield, and a fire res potion along with some safety hp and stamina potions. Eat the best food you have and just tank him, as long as you dodge the meteors and parry his blue explosion attack you outheal his fire and won’t die to it (you can dodge the initial blue explosion for safety but it reduces dps)
Edit: fenris armor fire resistance doesn’t stack with the potion
