Yeah, to be fair, a name like "friendly fire" would be more intuitive. Definitely recommend the butcher knife once you can afford to get it. Slaughters in 1 hit, doesn't require "PvP" to be on.

Also, once you get the harpoon you can turn on PvP to drag domesticated boars around, just be sure to feed them first so they can regen the lost health.

I also looked down and saw my knife skill was almost higher than any of my others - turns out the butcher knife and several dozen tamed boars, wolves and lox are an accelerated advancement program :-)

Tame boar must be killed with a butcher knife or one must enable PvP damage in the settings even in solo play. Tame animals do not otherwise take damage from the player.

The butcher knife requires refined metal to craft. If one has tamed boar but cannot make a butcher knife, enable PvP damage in the settings.

If you do the PvP enable be sure to disable it when finished harvesting your tames. Don't ask me why I suggest this lol

You don't have to have PvP on to butcher them with the knife. Other than that everything else is correct.

I'd like to add the "the knife" is inaccurate as there are several knives in the game but only the butcher knife kills tames with PvP off. Details matter.
